Intern-Navasota
Responsibilities :
- Learn the farm, division, and company’s culture and expectations.
- Become familiar with the ranch’s Standard Operating Procedures.
- Participate in planning meetings and work as part of the team on the units. Take initiative to learn, inquire, solve problems, and stay busy during the internship
- Experiences include doctoring animals, feeding, rotating pastures, maintaining infrastructure, and pasture management.
- Gain an understanding on other non-cattle departments of the ranch such as finance and natural resources and how they support to the overall success of the ranch.
- Be willing to assist where needed.
- Work within company-established policies and procedures as well as Good Agricultural Practices.
- Interns will receive an evaluation during and at the conclusion of their internship.
- Notify supervisors immediately of any safety issues and concerns.
- Champion a best-in-class safety program by attending all safety training, complying with all safety programs, using PPE and adhering to all other EHS programs.
Qualifications :
- Available to work 3 to 4 months beginning in January, May, or August of each year.
- Cattle and horseback experience with a desire and aptitude to work in production agriculture.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
- Able to meet the physical requirements of the role as well as being willing / able to work outside in year-round weather conditions including heat, cold, wind and rain.
- Able to reliably get to and from the internship location, per the assigned schedule. The company will reimburse the cost of temporary relocation, but the intern is responsible for their own daily transportation.
- Housing is provided rent-free and includes utilities and internet.
- Interns may receive a bonus at the end of their internship, to reward each month worked. To qualify, interns must complete all items on the Intern Checklist and leave their living quarters clean.
