The position available is for a Factory Operations Consultant based in Fort Wayne, IN. The role will involve supporting the Industrial Engineering Department with the following responsibilities :
- Overseeing the introduction of new processes and equipment into production and prototype facilities in NAFTA.
- Providing launch support and continuous improvement assistance to production.
- Identifying and eliminating wastes in manpower and materials to reduce production costs.
- Improving operational efficiency by planning the effective use of facilities, equipment, materials, and personnel.
- Providing budgetary costing for customer discussions.
- Creating Bills of Materials and Routings in the ERP system.
- Developing, procuring, and implementing tooling, gauging, and manufacturing equipment for new projects.
- Creating timing plans for industrialization and project launch and estimating task time and cycle time for new processes.
- Developing equipment and processes to meet quote specifications.
- Providing tooling information and tracking logs.
- Performing MHR calculations for controlling approval.
- Conducting time studies and writing / maintaining standard work instructions.
- Improving packaging issues.
- Completing FMEA's and process flows as necessary.
- Collaborating with management and engineering staff to implement plans and recommendations.
- Analyzing work force utilization, facility layout, and operational data to optimize workers and equipment utilization.
- Recommending methods to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
- Managing machine maintenance records.
- Representing the organization internally and externally to support corporate goals and promote the location.
- Communicating effectively with Engineering and Project Teams to ensure sales and customer objectives are met.
- Assisting in launch programs.
- Contributing to the achievement of quality / management objectives by optimizing design.
- Following Quality Management Systems and Environmental Management Systems.
- Participating in plant recycling programs.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
- 2 plus years' related experience and / or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with computer drafting software (AutoCAD).
