  • About the job

Google's projects, like our users, span the globe and require managers to keep the big picture in focus while being able to dive into the unique engineering challenges we face daily. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.

Using your technical and leadership expertise, you run Engineering-focused projects that are well-defined under supervision.

The Global Network Solutions team plans, acquires, and delivers the Network Infrastructure Assets that connect Google's Data Centers to users and Cloud customers throughout the world. Google's global network enables the reliable transfer of data across metros, countries, continents, and oceans.

Nestled within Global Network Solutions, the Fiber Asset and Delivery team oversees the delivery lifecycle of fiber assets acquired from carrier infrastructure providers, ensuring the delivery of Google's products and services.

Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google's product portfolio possible. We're proud to be our engineers' engineers and love voiding warranties by taking things apart so we can rebuild them. We keep our networks up and running, ensuring our users have the best and fastest experience possible.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $156,000-$229,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Please note that the compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Learn more about benefits at Google.

    Responsibilities

  • Manage the design, planning, and field construction of telecommunications infrastructure (e.g., fiber optic networks) to ensure requirements-compliant completion.
  • Build relationships with communities and contractor partners to facilitate the Outside Plant (OSP) Construction and installation of the network within a specific market.
  • Assist upstream planning and acquisition teams in developing infrastructure requirements, priorities, and delivery date expectations.
  • Oversee the program to manage vendor handover documentation (e.g., LOA / CFA (Letter Of Authority, Customer Facility Assignment), DLR (Design Layout Record) Completion notification, test results, and technical drawings) while working with vendors and Google staff to coordinate and facilitate record-keeping and communication.
  • Liaise with city officials, utilities, and community members to manage permits, secure rights-of-way, and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Google is proud to be an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer. We are committed to building a workforce that is representative of the users we serve, creating a culture of belonging, and providing an equal employment opportunity regardless of race, creed, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity / expression, national origin, disability, age, genetic information, veteran status, marital status, pregnancy or related condition (including breastfeeding), expecting or parents-to-be, criminal histories consistent with legal requirements, or any other basis protected by law.
