The HR Manager at MW Supermarket Holdings, Inc will serve as a key member of the leadership team for a dynamic retail grocery chain operating 17 stores across the NYC metropolitan area. This role will be responsible for driving people strategies, supporting store operations, and fostering a collaborative and inclusive workplace culture. The HR Manager will proactively support unionized populations, drawing on a proven HR generalist skill set to address employee relations, labor negotiations, talent development, and compliance matters. Regular travel to all store locations is required to ensure strong engagement with associates and management teams.
Essential Functions
The core functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following :
- Partner with senior leadership to align HR initiatives with organizational goals, shaping a people-first strategy across all locations.
- Support the operations and merchandising teams to achieve their goals and objectives.
- Collaborate with store management and operations teams to address workforce challenges, drive retention, and promote professional development for associates.
- Lead recruitment, onboarding, performance management, succession planning, and employee engagement activities as a strategic HR generalist.
- Maintain accurate HR records, prepare reports, and analyze data to inform business decisions and continuous improvement.
- Participate in leadership meetings, present HR metrics, and advise on organizational changes and workforce planning.
- Provide hands-on HR support to unionized associates, facilitating contract administration, grievance resolution, and fostering positive labor relations.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies, serving as the subject matter expert on HR regulatory requirements and union contracts.
- Champion Inclusion & Belonging, leveraging bilingual English and Spanish fluency to communicate effectively with a multicultural workforce.
- Travel regularly to store locations within the NYC area to deliver HR services, support business initiatives, and maintain a visible and accessible HR presence.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field, or equivalent experience.Minimum 5 years of progressive HR experience, including direct responsibility for supporting unionized employee populations.Candidates should possess prior experience and demonstrate proficiency with HR technologies, including HCM systems and LMS platforms.Proven HR generalist background with expertise in employee relations, talent acquisition, training, compensation, and benefits.Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish required.Ability to travel regularly throughout the NYC metro area to all store locations.Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills; ability to build relationships with diverse teams.Comfort with a flexible work schedule to accommodate business needs and operational demands.Experience in retail, grocery, or other fast-paced service industry environments is strongly preferred.Working Conditions & Physical Demands
