Job description

Sales Director, Utility Sales

The Sales Director, Utility Sales, is responsible for driving Nextracker's utility-scale solar business across North America. This role focuses on leading sales strategy, managing key customer relationships, and delivering growth in Nextracker's core tracking, software, and energy optimization solutions for large-scale solar developers, EPCs, and IPPs.

The ideal candidate brings deep industry expertise, a strong network within the utility-scale solar ecosystem, and a proven track record of exceeding revenue targets in a highly competitive renewable energy environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive new business opportunities for Nextracker's solar tracking and energy management solutions with major utility-scale customers.
  • Lead all aspects of the sales cycle, from prospecting through contract negotiation and closure.
  • Develop and execute strategic account plans to maximize revenue growth and market share.
  • Serve as the primary executive contact for key accounts within the utility segment.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with developers, EPCs, utilities, and strategic partners.
  • Collaborate with customers to identify value-add opportunities through TrueCapture, NX Horizon, and other Nextracker technologies.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Product Management, Engineering, and Operations to align customer requirements with Nextracker solutions.
  • Represent Nextracker at industry conferences, trade shows, and customer events.
  • Provide market intelligence and competitive analysis to inform product roadmap and pricing strategy.
  • Work closely with regional sales, marketing, and project management teams to ensure seamless handoff from sale to execution.
  • Support and mentor junior sales managers or regional account executives as needed.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of sales experience in renewable energy, with at least 5 years in utility-scale solar, energy storage, or power systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or related field (MBA preferred).
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Deep understanding of the utility-scale solar procurement process.
  • Proven ability to manage complex sales with long cycles.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and executive-level relationship skills.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce or similar CRM tools.
  • Up to 50%, as required to support customer meetings and industry events.

Pay is based on market location and may vary based on factors including experience, skills, education and other job-related reasons. The annual salary range for this position is 175,000.00 to 200,000.00 plus a commission structure based on commission calculation, such as percentage of sales or specific metrics.
