Transportation ESSENTIAL DUTIES The following are intended to describe core work functions of this classification. While the level and broad nature of essential duties may not change, specific work tasks will vary over time depending on the District's needs.
- In-person attendance is an essential function of this classification.
- Diagnoses and repairs electrical, mechanical, braking, and air conditioning problems in vehicles including those more than 10,000 lbs.
- G.V.W. and completes related documentation;
- Performs preventative maintenance and repairs District vehicles including those more than 10,000 lbs. G.V.W. replacing glass, repairing seats, changing belts and hoses, and repairing or replacing brake jobs;
- Performs vehicle emissions tests; and serves as a backup bus driver;
- Performs school bus safety inspections in accordance with State and other government standards; and,
- Performs related work as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE
- Diagnose malfunctions.
- Access standard District computer software.
- Automotive repair tools, including proper use and care.
- Principles of automotive mechanics, electrical systems, and emission controls.
- Automotive diesel engines, alternative fueled power engines, including CNG and propane equipment systems, and hydraulic loading systems.
- Safety practices.
SKILLS
- Operating and adjusting brake grinding equipment.
- Interpreting instructions for instruments.
- Analyzing manuals and specifications.
- Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
- Education and Experience : High school diploma or GED, two years of additional training similar to trade school or mechanic's certificate program for trucks, buses or other vehicles and three years of experience;
or an equivalent combination of directly-related education and experience. Required Certifications / Licenses :
- Valid Arizona Class B Commercial Driver's License with "P" endorsement obtained within three months of employment.
- Ability to qualify for State Pupil Transportation Certification.
- Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card (FPCC).
