Job Summary
Reporting to the Director, Regulatory & Product Compliance, this role is responsible for collaborating across business units and functional leaders to coordinate development and execution of Blue Bird's Vehicle certification and compliance activities. This role involves interpreting regulatory rules or rule changes and ensuring that they are communicated through corporate policies and procedures.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Submit defect and recall reports to NHTSA and Transport Canada.
- Prepares, reviews, make edits and submit periodic compliance reports to NHTSA, Transport Canada and other regulatory agencies.
- Create and maintain responses to NHTSA for EWR TREAD reports.
- Create and maintain ownership of Blue Bird Export reports.
- Work with NHTSA by participating in their pilot programs and provide feedback from Blue Bird's perspective.
- Serve as a technical authority regarding vehicle safety certification and compliance requirements and provide guidance & direction when needed to ensure that Blue Bird compliance is maintained.
- Work with regulatory agencies on discussions related to new refrigerants and support Blue Bird's position.
- Work on PFAS usage regulations and compliance requirements.
- Work with stakeholders and analyze the new NHTSA Zero Emissions Vehicles Integrity testing rulemaking, create requirements and support testing and validation.
- Work with key stakeholders in gathering compliance reports and analyze them.
- Communicate compliance status weekly or daily basis to product planning, production, sales and management.
- Develop creative methods (along with supporting engineers) to monitor and ensure Blue Bird's safety and vehicle compliance and communicate results and corrective actions.
- Strengthen industry influence via regular participation within the appropriate Truck and Engine Manufacturers Association (EMA) committees. Participates in the regulatory rulemaking process by interacting with internal and external groups, including analysis and response to proposed regulations.
