Description :

This position is for a registered nurse in the medical surgical oncology specialty.

The role involves working on a night shift schedule.

The nurse will care for adult patients primarily with a known cancer diagnosis.

The main focus will be on providing post-operative care to achieve specific discharge milestones.

Patients on this unit do not receive chemotherapy or biotherapy.

Nurses will be required to float to similar units as needed.

The nurse-to-patient ratio may be adjusted based on staffing requirements, typically maintaining a ratio of 1 : 6.

Candidates must have comfort and experience working in flexible staffing environments.

Nursing staff collaborates with various support services including IV teams and social services.

Specialty care involves procedures related to the abdominal or pelvic area.

The environment is fast-paced, and nurses will use standard medical equipment as well as innovative technology.

Weekend shifts are required based on unit needs, typically ranging from 12 to 14 shifts per contract.

Ten RTO days are allowed per contract, with specific blackout periods outlined.

Education and resources will be provided to support knowledge gaps in specific procedures.
