Primary Duties and Responsibilities :
Job Title : Head Coach Men’s Volleyball (Mesa) Department : Athletics
Reports to : Director of Student Life & Athletics
Status : Full-Time, Benefit Eligible
Location : Mesa Campus
Position Summary : Responsible forthe organization, development, and leadership of a varsity intercollegiate Men’sVolleyball Program in support of the mission and core values of the AthleticDepartment / University.
Essential JobResponsibilities :
1. Developa detailed recruitment plan that will allow the program to be in a position ofcompetitive leadership in the California Pacific Conference (Cal Pac).
Inform prospects of university academicprograms, talent evaluation, coordinating mailings, telephone calls, and emailexchanges.
Actively monitoring the complete recruitment process, on campus andoff campus through in-person contacts.
2. Fosteran atmosphere of competitive leadership in the California Pacific Conferencethrough sport-specific athlete development.
Attend, plan, develop, and directall team practices and conditioning activities in the traditional andnontraditional segments.
3. Assistwith the retention of student-athletes through social and academic counseling;interaction with the university retention team and coaching staff.
Retention ofstudent-athletes, along with the support of Student-Athlete Services, byeffectively coordinating and communicating attendance to all department-sponsored Create a culture of excellence throughout the student-athleteexperience.
Develop a culture of trust through mentorship and socialdevelopment. Communicate expectations, praise, and corrective feedback in aclear and constructive manner.
Maintain positive student athlete assessmentsfor program from student athletes.
5. Responsible for planning, development, anddirection of operating and fundraising budget within the university anddepartmental procedures.
Attendance at specified department fundraising events.Assist in the planning of team-specific alumni events, as well as developingnew opportunities through alumni networks.
Work effectively with the Directorof Athletics to satisfy philanthropic and revenue generation outcomes.
6. Assist theAthletics Department in various initiatives assigned by the director ofathletics and other University officials
OtherFunctions :
Responsible for adherence to all NAIA, Cal Pac, and institutional rules and regulations, including eligibility and compliance of student-athletes, medical hardship documentation and extension waivers.
Responsible for identifying and notifying student-athletes of eligibility status through an approved communication.
Adherence to all Benedictine University Mesa and Department of Athletics policies and procedures. Work independently and creatively within established guidelines, while at the same time functioning as a member of a team.
Attend departmental and University-related meetings and events.
Maintain a high level of organization and ability to manage multiple tasks.
Maintain positive relationships with alumni, parents, students, officials, volunteers, and fans.
Required Qualifications : Education : Bachelor's Degree Required, Master's Degree Preferred
Experience : Previous collegiate coaching preferred
Specific Skills : Knowledge of NAIA philosophy, recruitment,rules, and regulations
Specific Knowledge, Licenses,Certifications : Yes. Valid Driver’s License required. CPRcertification is preferred.
Physical Requirements : Ability to handle varying levels of stresswhile maintaining a professional demeanor. Possible lifting, bending, walking,kneeling, stretching, and stooping.
Frequent district-wide and statewide travel;frequent prolonged and irregular hours; outdoor exposure to sun / heat or coldweather.
Ability to speak clearly so listeners can understand. Understand thespeech of another person.
See details of objects that are less than a few feet away or are morethan a few feet away. Must be able to stand for long periods of time.

Working Conditions : Outdoor and Office environment. Nightsand weekends are required.

Specific training will beconducted online or in person. Employeesmust complete all trainings required by Benedictine University.
