Senior Business Analyst, Functional (Commercial Insurance / Property and Casualty)

Position : Senior Business Analyst, Functional (Commercial Insurance / Property and Casualty )

Location : Onsite 5X per week for the first few weeks to ramp then 3X hybrid at their HQ in Ewing Township, NJ (No Relos Please)

Note : Looking for a Strong Functional Analyst with a solid background in commercial or property and casualty insurance space.

This BA is on the business side, not looking for someone very technical. They need to know the commercial insurance business, policy, etc.

They also need to have familiarity with insurance software like Guidewire, Duck Creek, Majesco, etc.

The Functional Analyst, Senior is responsible for gathering, analyzing, and documenting business or system processes and requirements for NJM's applications.

This role will work closely with all Project and Business team members through-out the project lifecycle.

This role may be required to lead other team members and coordinate work efforts, assist in problem and solution scoping, effectively communicate requirements, and may get involved in quality assurance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Lead and coordinate requirements planning & monitoring activities for project delivery.
• Collaborate with applicable stakeholders to understand and diagram existing or new business processes using a variety of modeling techniques.
• Elicit, capture and document requirements independently; prepare and maintain documentation utilizing user stories, use cases, diagrams, or other requirement management templates and tools.
• Understand and demonstrate proficiency in applying appropriate requirements elicitation techniques (interviews, surveys, brainstorming sessions, etc.).
• Well versed with estimation methodologies; provide estimates for assignments independently and lead team members with task estimation.
• Lead meetings and drive team interaction, as well as foster business relationships.
• Understand in detail the features, functions, and capabilities of package solutions to achieve proper business requirements alignment and adaptation to package as needed.
• ssist in the investigation and resolution of incidents as needed.

Quality

• Complete assignments within expected timeframes.
• Produce high-quality artifacts with a minimal level of re-work by leveraging peer reviews to ensure the accuracy of deliverables and adherence to standards.
• Review artifacts produced by team members and provided constructive feedback.
• Regularly confirm expectations and proactively provide due dates for assignments.
• Proactively communicate status of assignments, identify gaps / issues which will impact targeted timeframes for deliverables, and communicate potential solutions for successful delivery.
• Participate in testing activities, coordinate defect triage efforts.
• Understand, follow, and actively promote IT department best practices and standards.
• Lead project meetings as necessary for successful delivery.

• Preserve / continue to develop an in-depth knowledge of multiple application's current implementations as well as available features and functionality;

• Recommend new features and functions that could add value to existing solutions.

• Mentor team members and drive work toward a successful delivery of efficient solutions.
• Lead other analysts when assigned; provide guidance for their deliverables.
• Plan and coordinate team activities for operational support work.
• Understand scope of authority; recognize when to make decisions or escalate to higher levels.
• Tailor communications to audience's needs and level of understanding.
• Ensure that business needs are met as work evolves.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

• Knowledge and experience in Commercial Lines Insurance
• Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience.
• In-depth knowledge and experience of different requirements gathering tools and techniques (use cases, diagramming, process modeling, interviews, workshops, etc.).
• In-depth knowledge and experience of multiple project delivery methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.).
• Proven experience leading and coordinating teamwork efforts.

Required Length & Type Of Experience

• 6+ years of experience as a Business Analyst (working with Personal & Commercial Insurance products is preferred).
• 8+ years of experience in software delivery.
