BDO Tax Intern Leadership Program

BDO is a place for energetic self-starters who can think and act like entrepreneurs. The BDO Tax Intern Leadership Program aims to attract top talent by offering a unique leadership experience across multiple tax lines : Core Tax Services (CTS), Private Client Services (PCS), and Specialty Tax Services (STS). This 20-week rotational internship provides diverse experiences and exclusive leadership access, expediting promotion. This 20-week internship will showcase all the opportunities within a tax career.

Job Duties

Tax Consulting

• Assists with developing, recommending, and implementing efficient and effective methods to maximize client benefits, especially by decreasing clients' current and future taxes
• Federal and state income tax planning to ensure the most tax efficient domestic tax structure
• International tax, transfer pricing, transaction tax consulting for companies engaging in worldwide opportunities and / or acquisitions
• Succession and Wealth Transfer Planning with closely held business owners and their families
• Operates online research tools to gather pertinent tax information
• Monitors tax law and client factual developments on a regular basis, daily or weekly but at least bi-weekly
• Develops and communicates to client service team personnel, viewpoints regarding how those developments might affect clients

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Education : Enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Accounting or Finance, required. Enrolled in a University Professional Program in Accounting (or similar), required. Students must be vetted by the university (accounting professor, PPA program faculty, or similar) as a part of the selection process, required. Letter of recommendation, preferred

Experience : Leadership experience, preferred

License / Certifications : Actively pursuing school credits to become a CPA, preferred

Software : Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint, preferred

Language : N / A

Other Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities : Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to follow instructions as directed. Ability to work effectively in a team setting. Possesses a positive attitude and willingness to learn. Ability to prepare simple tax returns. Ability to pay attention to details, actively seek feedback, and offer assistance to various teams. Interest in developing a career post-graduation within business development. Ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the firm.
