About the Opportunity
We are launching a new ASAM Level 3.7 and 3.5 residential treatment center in Marshall, Missouri, providing 24-hour medically monitored and clinically managed care for adults recovering from substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. The Facilities Manager plays a vital role in ensuring the safety, functionality, and readiness of the treatment center environment. This includes maintaining compliance with Missouri Department of Mental Health (DMH), fire marshal, and environmental safety regulations applicable to higher-acuity, medically supported programs. This position is ideal for a hands-on, detail-oriented professional experienced in healthcare or residential operations, who takes pride in creating a clean, compliant, and therapeutic environment that supports recovery.
Position Overview
The Facilities Manager oversees all aspects of facility operations, maintenance, and safety across a 24-hour residential treatment environment. Responsibilities include managing building systems, coordinating repairs and inspections, maintaining life-safety systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies, and responding promptly to maintenance needs. The Facilities Manager collaborates closely with the Director of Nursing, Clinical Supervisor, and Executive Director to maintain an environment conducive to client safety, staff efficiency, and program excellence in alignment with ASAM 3.7 / 3.5 standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Facility Maintenance & Operations :
- Oversee all maintenance and repair of facility systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and emergency power systems.
- Develop and implement a preventive maintenance plan for all critical infrastructure and equipment.
- Conduct and document routine facility inspections to identify and resolve maintenance or safety issues.
- Coordinate with licensed vendors and contractors for maintenance, upgrades, and compliance inspections.
- Maintain all areas of the property—including grounds, parking, residential areas, and clinical spaces—to support a professional and therapeutic setting.
- Ensure all facility work orders are prioritized and completed in a timely manner to support 24-hour operations.
- Safety & Compliance :
- Maintain compliance with DMH, DHSS, OSHA, and fire safety regulations applicable to ASAM 3.7 and 3.5 levels of care.
- Conduct and document safety and fire drills, fire extinguisher checks, and emergency lighting inspections.
- Oversee generator testing, alarm systems, and fire suppression equipment functionality.
- Maintain organized and accessible documentation for inspections, service logs, and safety compliance.
- Assist with licensing and accreditation inspections, ensuring all facility standards meet or exceed regulatory requirements.
- Participate in the safety committee and contribute to risk management planning and reporting.
- Inventory & Resource Management :
- Manage facility tools, maintenance supplies, and safety equipment inventory.
- Coordinate room turnover, furniture installation, and repair to maintain readiness for new admissions.
- Oversee vendor contracts for utilities, waste disposal, pest control, and janitorial services.
- Ensure cost-effective purchasing and resource management in line with program budgets.
- Emergency Preparedness :
- Develop and help implement the program’s Emergency Response and Disaster Preparedness Plan.
- Respond promptly to facility emergencies, including system malfunctions, weather-related events, and safety hazards.
- Train staff in evacuation procedures, fire safety, and emergency reporting protocols.
- Maintain clear communication with leadership during all emergency or urgent facility situations.
- Team Collaboration :
- Partner with clinical and medical leadership to ensure the environment supports 24-hour care delivery.
- Support program operations through timely response to maintenance requests and facility-related needs.
- Participate in leadership meetings, providing updates on facility status, repairs, and compliance readiness.
- Promote a culture of safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training in maintenance or facilities management preferred.Minimum of three (3) years experience in facility management, maintenance, or operations (preferably in a healthcare, residential, or behavioral health setting).Strong working knowledge of building systems, fire safety, OSHA, and DMH environmental standards.Ability to perform minor repairs and coordinate complex maintenance projects.Excellent organizational and documentation skills.Proficient with basic computer applications (email, recordkeeping, maintenance tracking).Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical maintenance tasks as needed.Must pass background check and drug screening per DMH requirements.Preferred Experience
Prior experience in a licensed behavioral health, detox, or medical facility.Familiarity with 9 CSR 30-3.140, NFPA standards, and healthcare environment safety codes.Vendor management and project coordination experience.Knowledge of OSHA, fire safety, and infection control protocols.Schedule
Full-time, on-site position. Flexibility required for evening, weekend, or emergency coverage to support 24-hour facility operations.
