Material Handling Technician

This is an entry level position in the warehouse and allows for the introduction of a less experienced candidate who can grow in the position. As knowledge and abilities progress, it is expected that the employee will be able take on the duties, and responsibilities to progress to Senior Material Handling Technician. Facilitate shipping, receiving, inspecting, storage, issuing, staging and distribution of City of Loveland inventory and non-inventory materials. The majority of the inventoried materials are utility specific : power, water, wastewater and broadband. Supporting the City's utilities is the primary function.

The salary range for this position is $20.70- $27.95 per hour with a hiring range of $20.70 - $24.32, depending on qualifications and experience.

Essential functions include replenishing inventories, processing receiving documents, familiarizing with material locations and inventory cycle count procedures, unloading, inspecting, organizing, and tagging materials, issuing materials, maintaining electronic and physical files, safely operating a forklift, preparing shipments, adhering to safety procedures, and performing other duties as assigned.

Other job functions include delivering tools, equipment, and materials to crews in the field, assisting Public Works, Fleet Management, and Tech Services, performing general cleanup, monitoring environmental policies, performing regular maintenance, and becoming familiar with warehouse operating procedures.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, three years of utility or warehouse experience, a valid driver's license, certification as a forklift operator, CPR and First Aid certification, and compliance with all City of Loveland required training. Knowledge, skills, and abilities include working knowledge of computers, strong customer service skills, accurate data entry, general knowledge of utility materials, strict safety practices, accurate filing, and math skills.

Physical demands include frequent moderate to considerable physical effort, occasional exposure to hazards, occasional exposure to heat and noise, and working outside in the elements.
