Job Summary
The Assistant Controller will play a key leadership role in overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring compliance with prevailing wage and union regulations, and delivering timely, accurate financial reporting. This individual will manage a small accounting team and work closely with the Controller to support budgeting, forecasting, audits, and process improvements.
This is a hands-on role within a dynamic, growth-oriented organization dedicated to safety, innovation, and financial excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all aspects of general ledger posting, month-end close, and preparation of financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, statement of cash flows).
- Manage certified payroll reporting, including DIR and LCP Tracker submissions, ensuring prevailing wage and union contract (CBA) compliance.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff across A / P, A / R, payroll, and related functions.
- Support the Controller with budgeting, forecasting, audit preparation, and internal financial analysis.
- Maintain strong internal controls and ensure adherence to company policies and regulatory standards.
- Drive process improvements to increase accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
Required Qualifications
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including general ledger posting, month-end close, and full financial statement preparation and analysis.5+ years of payroll experience, including prevailing wage, public works, certified payroll reporting (DIR, LCP Tracker), and union contracts (CBA's).Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (required).5+ years of experience managing accounting functions, including A / P, A / R, and payroll.Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with accounting software.Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.Construction industry experience strongly preferred.Why You'll Love It Here
