St. Margaret's Center , an affiliate of Center for Disability Services, is a pediatric and young adult 94-bed skilled nursing facility, located in Albany, NY. Founded in 1883, St. Margaret's Center is a skilled nursing facility serving medically fragile infants, children, and young adults on a single dedicated campus. We specialize in providing cutting-edge, long-term, 24-hour intensive medical care in a nurturing and home-like setting.

Requirements for a Director of Nursing (DON) :

  • Current and valid NYS RN License.
  • Long Term Care experience
  • At least 5 years of job related experience as an RN and 3 years specifically in Supervisory Nursing Management.
  • Associates degree in the field of Nursing, Bachelor's preferred.
  • Responsibilities for a Director of Nursing (DON) :

  • Responsible for the overall coordination and execution of nursing services for the residents of St. Margaret's Center.
  • Responsible for monitoring and evaluating the outcomes of nursing care.
  • Ensures the recruiting, orientation, evaluation, and scheduling of staff necessary to provide for resident needs is maintained.
  • Responsible for providing overall supervision of all nursing department staff.
  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of the nursing service policies and procedures related to the scope of nursing services and nursing care that should be provided to the residents upon and after admission.
  • Implements and enforces policies and procedures that cover essential nursing responsibilities to the residents and the facility.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all required supplies and equipment are obtained and maintained to meet the needs of the residents.
  • Provides administrative supervision / support by being available to the nursing staff 24 hrs. / day; 7 days per week by phone. May require return to the facility to assist with duties or emergencies as needed.
