Dispatcher
Experience / Skills :
Map reading abilities, excellent communication skills, and stable job history required. Should possess basic computer skills in order to operate a comprehensive computerized scheduling program with reporting components.
Must be able to coordinate and provide instructions to others. Must possess an understanding of and sensitivity to the special service needs of persons with disabilities, elderly persons, and people who are economically disadvantaged.
Must be able to supervise and work with effectively with peers.
Summary of Essential Job Duties :
- Operate a two-way radio system and monitor Automated Vehicle Locator system.
- Receive and respond to telephonic inquiries for information from the general public
- Communicate regularly with road supervisors on transportation activities and promptly report any unusual occurrences or major policy deviations.
- Know the procedures and act as coordinator when weather or vehicle emergencies occur; and when drivers experience vehicle problems while driving.
- Cooperate with representatives of police, fire, and other city and county departments in response to special road and / or emergency conditions that might affect normal operation of bus service.
- Maintain a log of any problems related to pickups, routing, road-calls, agency emergencies, accidents, complaints, etc. and their outcome.
- Maintain the dispatch log.
- Record customer complaints that are provided by telephone and report them to the operations manager.
- Schedules drivers in accordance with daily trip volumes
- Reconcile daily driver manifests and enter appropriate data into the MT reporting system.
- Follow all safety procedures and requirements. Advise Operations Manager of any safety related issues.
- Perform other special projects or operations related duties as assigned.
