Tools & Equipment
Hand tools, various electric and gas-powered tools and equipment used in the maintenance and operation of parks, buildings and stormwater facilities including trucks, tractors, mowers, trimmers, sprayers, loaders, backhoes, trenchers, snow removal equipment, first aid equipment, computer / software, and an automobile.
Physical Demands
Requires regular sitting, standing, walking, talking, and handling; extensive physical activity including heavy lifting up to 50 pounds and occasional lifting over 100 pounds with assistance. Vision requirements include near / far acuity, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision. Clear and effective verbal and written communication required.
Environment
Work is performed in indoor and outdoor settings with varying temperatures; noise levels vary from moderate to loud; occasional exposure to fumes, chemicals, bodily fluids, and other hazards. May work near moving mechanical parts and may encounter mechanical or electrical hazards.

Minimum Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the education, experience, certification and / or licensure required. An equivalent combination of education and experience to perform the essential duties and meet the necessary employment standards may be considered.
Technician I / II / III
18 years of age or older, with a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid Colorado driver's license; safe driving record and a minimum of two years of driving history.
Technician I
This entry-level position emphasizes limited and routine tasks and duties. Six (6) months of experience in parks maintenance or related field preferred. Knowledge of park / trail system locations; basic park maintenance; effective communication. Certifications to be obtained within one year : Flagger Certification, CPR / First Aid / AED Certification.
Technician II
One (1) year of experience as a Parks Technician I or two (2) years of equivalent experience outside the Town of Parker in parks maintenance operations. Moderate knowledge of parks maintenance; ability to perform most daily tasks independently. Certifications to be initiated within six months and obtained within one year : Class B CDL with tanker endorsement and air brakes. Certification to be initiated within one year and obtained within eighteen months : Certified Operator Colorado Pesticide Applicators License in Turf and Right of Way.
Technician III
Two (2) years of experience as a Parks Technician II for the Town of Parker, or four (4) years of equivalent experience outside the Town in parks maintenance with two (2) years snow removal experience. Advanced knowledge of parks maintenance; competency in three of : irrigation, mowing, turf, athletics, horticulture, or general maintenance. Certifications to be initiated within one year and obtained within eighteen months : Colorado Department of Agriculture Qualified Supervisor Pesticide Applicator's License in Turf and Right of Way, NIMS 100.
Employment Standards
Knowledge of equipment, materials, techniques in municipal park maintenance; plant identification; turf, horticulture, irrigation; safety practices; computer skills; verbal and written communication. Ability to operate / maintain heavy and small landscape / maintenance equipment. Ability to work independently and coordinate with Town Departments and others. Ability to work irregular hours, weekends, holidays, or during emergencies; may carry an emergency pager. Ability to pass pre-employment background check.
