Job description

Overview

Quality Engineer - NPD role at InVue. The NPD Quality Engineer will be a member of the Product Development Team and will be responsible for quality oversight and management from product inception, through product launch, and post launch maintenance. The primary role is to ensure products meet quality standards consistent with corporate policies, while meeting all design control and regulatory requirements. The candidate reports to the Hardware Quality Manager and must be able to function with little supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Manages projects and / or provides project support from the Quality function
  • Works with NPD Design Engineers to control product development through a phase-gate approach
  • Leads the planning and execution of verification and validation testing to ensure adequate test coverage for new products and sustaining design changes
  • Facilitates the identification of project risks and development of mitigation plans, inclusive of leading DFMEA activities for programs
  • Supports various development activities including engineering design reviews and engineering design testing
  • Functions as Quality lead for Contract Manufacturers to ensure performance targets for Quality are met or exceeded
  • Interacts effectively with customers, suppliers, and internal resources
  • Drives quality requirement definition (e.g. Design for Test, Design for Reliability, etc.), through an understanding of both internal and external customer requirements
  • Provides coaching for product development teams and continuous improvement team on best practices
  • Supports continuous improvement of the Quality Management System
  • Collaborates with customer service to improve launch support for new products
  • Leads problem solving analysis using standard tools and methodology
  • Ownership and / or support of Corrective and Preventive Action
  • Supports the resolution of technical quality issues in development, manufacturing, and field through robust problem-solving processes

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Required); Mechanical or Electrical (Preferred)
  • A minimum of 3+ years related work experience in an NPD Quality environment (Required)
  • Experience with design and development including :
  • Product Design and Development Verification
  • Process Design and Development Verification
  • Product and Process Validation and Production Feedback
  • Launch Assessment and Corrective Action
  • Experience with test method development & validation (e.g. measurement / test system development, gage R&R, etc.)
  • Extensive experience with quality tools and methods
  • Extensive experience developing & implementing sustaining quality initiatives & strong track record of delivering results
  • Excellent analytical decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Effective at multi-tasking, exceptional organization and time management skills, self-motivated; shows patience, confidence, and composure
  • Able to breakdown complex problems into manageable projects; can create logical plans and schedules for themselves and others in the team to achieve the organization's goals
  • Ability to work and perform as part of a global team, across multiple time zones
  • Preferred

  • Six Sigma Green / Black Belt
  • Experience with customer interaction / communications
  • Knowledge of mechanical design, GD&T, injection molding, and metal forming
  • Knowledge of field management, returns, and warranty processes
  • Knowledge of EE hardware & firmware development & testing
  • Knowledge of IoT solutions
  • Experience working in Jira
