Textiles Assistant Designer
Serena & Lily is excited to welcome a new Assistant Designer to our collaborative Design Team at our Sausalito Headquarters. If you're passionate about textiles and eager to grow within a creative environment, we want to hear from you! This role is essential in assisting with textile developments, ensuring quality, accuracy, and timely execution from concept to production. You will report to the Senior Designer and work closely with our team to make ideas come to life.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Assist in the development of various textile categories.
- Create design specifications for seasonal collections including bedding, bath, beach, and other soft goods.
- Produce scaled renderings using Photoshop for impactful visual presentations.
- Translate creative concepts into precise technical specifications.
- Develop layouts and adapt original artwork to meet textile product requirements.
- Maintain and build Bills of Materials (BOMs) and technical specifications in Backbone PLM.
- Collaborate with factories and agents to ensure product quality throughout the development cycle.
- Review lab dips, strike-offs, and development samples with keen attention to detail, ensuring they match specifications and align with existing product lines.
- Manage product development submissions and maintain organized fabric libraries.
- Assist in seasonal assortment reviews and setup for presentations.
- Identify opportunities for innovation in production techniques, materials, and design processes.
- Research new ideas, materials, and trims to inspire seasonal concepts.
- Monitor market trends and competitive activity to guide product direction.
- Stay organized and keep up to date with calendar deadlines and milestone changes.
QUALIFICATIONS :
BFA in Textile Design, Fashion Design, or a related field.1-3 years of experience in textile design, fashion design, or product development.Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to quality and accuracy.Quick learner and self-starter, resourceful in overcoming challenges.Highly organized, thriving in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.Effective problem solver, adaptable to dynamic environments.Strong listening skills and able to follow direction, seeking clarity as needed.Team player with a willingness to assist in various tasks.Ability to build strong, respectful cross-functional relationships.COMPENSATION :
The anticipated starting base pay for this role is $70-80k per year, based on experience, education, and skills.Eligible employees (and their families) may participate in medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance plans, and can enroll in our company 401k plan.Full-time employees accrue twenty-one days of PTO and seven paid holidays within the first year of employment.
