Associate Director, Sales Compensation Design

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement sales incentive compensation strategies that align with overall business objectives and drive desired sales behaviors.
  • Design, develop, and implement sales incentive compensation plans, including salary structures, incentive plans, and other compensation programs.
  • Collaborate with sales leadership, HR, finance, and other stakeholders to gather requirements, gain alignment, and ensure effective plan implementation.
  • Oversee the performance management process related to incentive compensation, including setting sales targets, tracking performance, and calculating payouts.
  • Utilize data analysis and modeling to assess the effectiveness of incentive compensation plans, identify areas for improvement, and make data-driven recommendations.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations related to sales compensation, working with legal and HR teams as needed.
  • Lead a team of compensation professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and support in their development.
  • Oversee vendor relationships related to sales compensation administration, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance sales compensation design, administration, and operations, implementing solutions for improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. MBA or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Candidate must have a minimum of 15 years' experience in commercial operations, sales compensation, commercial analytics, or other related fields. Experience in the genomic sequencing, medical device or life sciences industries strongly preferred.
  • Must have at least 7 years in people leadership roles, preferably in commercial organizations.
  • Global experience to work across various regions, strongly preferred.
  • Deep understanding of sales compensation principles, best practices, and industry trends.
  • Proficiency in using data analysis tools and techniques to assess plan performance and inform decision-making.
  • Strong ability to build relationships, influence stakeholders, and communicate effectively with various levels of the organization.
  • Ability to connect compensation strategy to overall business objectives and drive desired outcomes.
  • Ability to identify and resolve complex issues related to sales compensation design and administration.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems, compensation management software, and other relevant tools.
