Purchasing Manager
A leading builder is seeking a Purchasing Manager with single-family construction experience that will maintain data on subcontractors hired, determine estimates of house budgets for direct cost, competitively bid subcontractors as needed, negotiate price and terms;
and create and maintain direct cost budgets for all active projects. The ideal candidate will directly manage two or more employees in the Purchasing Department.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop, lead and execute purchasing strategies
- Manage bid process for architectural plans to subcontractors and vendors
- Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
- Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms
- Partner with stakeholders to ensure clear requirements documentation
- Forecast price and market trends to identify changes of balance in buyer-supplier power
- Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking
- Assess, manage and mitigate risks
- Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers
- Determine quantity and timing of deliveries
- Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand
- Create budgets for upcoming projects
- Manage costs of existing projects
- Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; preferably in supply Chain Management, Logistics or Business Administration
- Five to eight years of related experience and / or training as Purchasing Manager, Agent or Officer
- Proven experience with sourcing, negotiation and vendor management
- Ability to gather and analyze data
- Possess strong leadership skills and networking capabilities
- Proficiency with MS Office and email
- Experience and knowledge in JD Edwards a plus
