Job description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Communications & Marketing (50%)

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy that supports donor engagement, brand visibility, and mission storytelling.
  • Create compelling newsletters, campaigns, annual reports, and appeals (digital and print)
  • Develop communication materials for events, including invitations, sponsorship decks, press releases, and program journals
  • Develop and implement a social media strategy to ensure cohesive messaging and strong engagement
  • Maintain and update LUW's website and photo archive
  • Produce monthly internal e-newsletter and collaborate with staff to create program flyers
  • Manage external vendors including graphic designer, audio / visual partners, and printers

Events (30%)

  • Lead the planning and execution of LUW's fundraising and cultivation events, including our annual spring gala and fall benefit concert
  • Oversee event logistics from start to finish
  • Develop event themes, timelines, and budgets that align with fundraising goals.
  • Recruit and engage committees, honorees, and sponsors
  • Draft collateral, run-of-show materials, and talking points
  • Analyze post-event outcomes to continuously strengthen future events
  • Donor Relations & Stewardship (20%)

  • Identify and cultivate new donors, event sponsors, and partners
  • Represent LUW at community events, donor meetings, and public-facing engagements as needed
  • Record donor interactions and communications in donor database (Bloomerang)
  • Support other Development initiatives, including the annual Student Essay Contest and seasonal campaigns
  • QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of professional experience in fundraising, communications, marketing, or event planning
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills
  • Must be available to work occasional evenings and weekends for events
  • Proven experience planning and executing successful fundraising events
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines
  • Tech savvy, including proficiency in Microsoft Suite and basic design / website software
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team environment
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Lifting Up Westchester
  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for occasional local travel.
