Client in San Ramon, CA is seeking a Cybersecurity Analyst contractor with strong fundamental IT knowledge – Not just someone certified in specific tools (like CrowdStrike), but someone who understands fundamental architecture of IT environments.
- Active Directory expertise

- Flexibility to work hours from approximately 10am-7pm
- Potential interest in transitioning to full-time employment after the 6-month contract
- Must be eligible for employment in the United States, with reliable transportation and auto insurance
Responsibilities :
Determine security requirements by evaluating business strategies and requirements; researching information security standards; conducting system security and vulnerability analyses and risk assessments; studying architecture / platform; identifying integration issues; preparing cost estimates.Plan security systems by evaluating network and security technologies; developing requirements for local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), virtual private networks (VPNs), routers, firewalls, and related security and network devices; designs public key infrastructures (PKIs), including use of certification authorities (CAs) and digital signatures as well as hardware and software; adhering to industry standards.Implement security systems by specifying intrusion detection methodologies and equipment; directing equipment and software installation and calibration; preparing preventive and reactive measures; creating, transmitting, and maintaining keys; providing technical support; completing documentation.Identify potential threats, respond to reported security violations, and recommend corrective actions to ensure data securityResearch, recommend, and implement changes to procedures and systems to enhance data systems securityAssist and contribute to Vendor Security Management ProgramLead development, modification, and operation of the intrusion detection and prevention system designed to maintain the integrity of the company’s IT infrastructureDeploy, manage, and maintain all security systems and their corresponding or associated software, including firewalls, anti-virus software, etc.Develop, implement, maintain, and oversee enforcement of policies, procedures, controls associated plans for system security administration and user system access based on industry-standard best practicesAdvise, administer, and maintain proper security group structure for managing end-user accounts, permissions, and access rightsMonitor server logs, firewall logs, intrusion detection logs, and network traffic for unusual or suspicious activity. Interpret activity and make recommendations for resolutionRecommend, schedule (where appropriate), and oversee fixes, security patches, and any other measures required in the event of a security breachAssess the need for any security reconfigurations (minor or significant) and work with system owners to plan and execute any needed changesKeep current with emerging security alerts and issuesConduct research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of security enhancement and development effortsRecommend, schedule, and perform security improvements, upgrades, and / or purchasesAssist with pen testing activitiesEvaluate and process potential phishing emails, review attachments for safety.Monitor and administer application Allowlist and blocklist.Monitor and remediate detected vulnerabilities in the environment. Work with IT Infrastructure team on deploying patches.Monitor access control to sensitive files and foldersRequired Education and Experience
Bachelors degree with major or minor in Computer Information Systems or related field2 years+ of information security or systems analysis experience requiredCertified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or other information security certification desiredExperience with the following : Windows Infrastructure background required. Experience implementing and maintaining MFA, VPN, internet proxy server, intrusion detection systems, data loss prevention systems, network security or VPN management software, transaction security software, virus protection software, and change management best practices preferred.Reference : 1042642
