Team Lead Clinical Care Technician (36 hrs / week) - Neuroscience Unit

Job Profile Summary

This role focuses on providing professional and nonprofessional nursing care services in accordance with physician orders. In addition, this role focuses on performing the following Nursing Support duties : Provides basic care services to patients, but does not have an RN or LPN license. Positions in this nursing support work under the direction of physicians, mid-level practitioners, and may work under the direction of registered nurses depending on their unit. A clinical technologist role that has specialized knowledge or skills gained through a combination of vocational education, training, and experience. This role will be most commonly applied to patient care and / or scientific / laboratory jobs. A senior level role requiring broad knowledge of operational procedures and tools obtained through extensive work experience and requiring vocational or technical education. Works under limited supervision for routine situations, problems typically are not routine and require analysis to understand, provides assistance and / or may lead and train entry level employees and may lead daily operation activities.

The position functioning in the role of CCT, will have additional responsibilities of assisting in translating the philosophy, strategic goals, policies and procedures of the hospital, nursing and patient care services

Job Description

Minimum Qualifications :

1. High School Diploma or equivalent

2. Three (3) years' recent experience as a Nursing Assistant (NA), Patient Care Assistant (PCA), Critical Care Tech (CCT), or Patient Care Tech (PCT) or equivalent role in a hospital setting.

Preferred Qualifications :

1. Completion of CNA training program

Duties and Responsibilities : The duties and responsibilities listed below are intended to describe the general nature of work and are not intended to be an all-inclusive list. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

1. Supports the orientation and preceptor programs for staff.

2. Assists with scheduling and rounding for staff.

3. Assists in the development and implementation plan of quality improvement activities pertinent for the role.

4. Assists in developing mechanisms for data collection related to quality indicators.

5. Assists with chart auditing and quality audits as appropriate.

6. Promotes staff participation in unit and hospital committees / task forces for CCTs.

7. Appropriately assigns shared responsibilities to others in accordance with job description and competency level.

8. Supports the ongoing development of staff through coaching, mentoring and role modeling.

9. Supports in-servicing and roll out of new products and / or practices.

10. Collaborates with other members of leadership team in providing appropriate educational opportunities for unlicensed personnel.

11. Participates in and provides leadership to departmental and hospital committees as requested.

12. Participates as a member of the CCT council.

13. Assists in the development of practice initiatives through unit-based group activities.

14. Enhances own professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, in-service meetings, and workshops.

15. Completes all functions and duties of Clinical Care Technician role.

Physical Requirements :

1. Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing / walking

2. Lifts, positions, pushes and / or transfer patients and equipment

3. Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching

4. Frequent exposure to hazardous chemicals, sick patients, bodily substances, noise and possible exposure to radiation, lasers, electric shock, etc.

5. Regularly exposed to the risk of blood borne diseases and other transmissible infections

6. Contact with patients under wide variety of circumstances

7. Subject to varying and unpredictable situations

8. Subjected to irregular hours

9. May have contact with hazardous materials

3. Possesses and applies the skills and knowledge necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span, with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.

4. Ability to assist in providing care for a designated group of patients under the direction of a licensed nurse and according to unit guidelines hospital policies, procedures and protocols.

Pay Range : $20.12 - $25.15
