John Paul Mitchell Systems (JPMS) is recognized worldwide for developing and marketing innovative hair and skin care products since 1980. Weve been serving the professional beauty industry with salon-quality hair care products, styling tools and professional hair color through our family of brands including Paul Mitchell, MITCH, Awapuhi Wild Ginger, Tea Tree, Paul Mitchell Tools, Neuro, The Demi, Paul Mitchell the color, Blonde, and Color XG.

We were the first professional hair care company to take a stand against animal testing and continue our strong commitment to giving back, supporting a wide range of philanthropic causes both domestically and internationally. Sustainability has always been a priority, and we are committed to making our company operations climate neutral to preserve the beauty of the world around us.

About the Role

The Brand Manager is responsible for developing and implementing strategies that drive brand awareness, consistency, and loyalty across all touchpoints for JPMS. This role focuses on building a cohesive brand identity, managing marketing campaigns, and ensuring all communications align with the brands core values and vision. Additionally, the Brand Manager takes ownership of planning and executing brand events, handling logistics to ensure impactful and seamless experiences.

This is a temporary role to cover a maternity leave ASAP May 8, 2026. The ideal candidate is located a commutable distance from Santa Monica, CA.

Brand Strategy & Planning

  • Implement brand strategies that align with the companys business objectives and overall growth plans.
  • Execute the development of annual brand plans, including marketing objectives, key initiatives and budget allocation.
  • Assist in the alignment with the Leadership team on marketing plans including socializing with the larger marketing team to ensure full alignment to the plan for execution.
  • Drive Go-To-Market launch plans for New Product Launches, Hero Products and Key Campaigns.
  • Be the voice of marketing in all collaboration sessions with creative, new product development, education, sales, digital marketing, operations, etc. ensuring that JPMSs brand positioning, value proposition and core target are being represented.
  • Help inspire agency partners to deliver plans, programs and executions that are aligned with marketing objectives.
  • Presentation of marketing initiatives to key groups, as needed.
  • Participate in special events for the organization, as needed.

Market Research & Consumer Insights

  • Utilize consumer research, loyalty data, competitive intelligence, and industry trends to identify growth opportunities, gaps and insights to enrich marketing plans and tactics.
  • Analyze market dynamics to inform product development, pricing strategies, and promotional tactics.
  • Brand Activation & Campaign Management

  • Oversee the creation and execution of integrated marketing campaigns across multiple channels (digital, print, streaming, social media, etc.).
  • Collaborate with creative teams, media agencies, and external partners to ensure compelling brand communications and impactful activations.
  • Lead new product launches and ensure successful go-to-market strategies.
  • Plan, organize, and execute brand events, product launches, and activations.
  • Manage all event logistics, including venue selection, vendor coordination, and on-site setup.
  • Manage and provide all cross functional departments and international partners with key branding elements and brand style guides.
  • Performance Tracking & Reporting

  • Measure and analyze the effectiveness of brand campaigns and initiatives using KPIs, sales data, and market feedback.
  • Regularly report on brand health, market performance, and ROI to senior leadership, providing actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Budget & Resource Management

  • Manage the brands marketing budget, ensuring cost-effective allocation of resources for maximum ROI.
  • Ensure that all initiatives stay within budget and deliver against financial targets.

  • What Youll Need : Skills :

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Proficient in AI technologies such as Co-Pilot and Canva
  • Proficient in using project management platforms, such as Workfront
  • Familiarity with CRM and analytics tools
  • Proficient with Adobe technologies
  • Proven ability to define and execute brand positioning
  • Ability to drive multiple product launches and key brand initiatives
  • Experience creating and implementing 360° marketing campaigns across multiple channels
  • Strong project management skills to manage timelines, budgets, and deliverables
  • Analytical skills to interpret sales data, market trends, and consumer insights
  • Skilled at cross-functional collaboration
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Understanding of eCommerce strategies, platforms, and tools to support direct-to-consumer (DTC) growth
  • High attention to detail and ability to maintain brand consistency across all touchpoints
  • Education :

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Experience :

  • 5+ years of brand marketing experience required
  • Nice to haves : Education :

  • Bachelors degree in marketing or closely related field strongly preferred
  • Experience :

  • Prior beauty industry experience specifically in hair care strongly preferred
  • Competitive Compensation :

  • The expected base salary range for this position is $95,000 to $105,000. The exact base salary is determined by various factors including geographic location, experience, skills, and education.
  • Discretionary Bonus Plan : This position is also eligible for participation in the company discretionary bonus plan, based on personal performance and company results.
