The Americas Financing Group within Global Banking & Markets is looking for an Associate to join the Structured Finance Structured Credit Financing Group ( SCFG ) team in New York.
The Structured Finance Group is a diverse and global business that brings together broad capabilities across financing, underwriting, capital raising, risk management and advisory to provide holistic solutions to our clients.
The group works closely with classic investment banking, trading and other product groups to originate and execute structured finance transactions.
The Structured Credit team is a market-leading and differentiated franchise focused on pioneering creative and novel structured solutions for corporate clients across sectors, including TMT, Industrials, Natural Resources etc.
Working with the Structured Credit team means the opportunity to be involved with some of the most consequential and strategic financings for major corporates recent deals range from airline loyalty-backed financings and spectrum-backed financings to pre-IPO structured holdco financings and cross-border asset-backed LBO financings, amongst others.
We have a multi-sector, multi-product focus that is constantly evolving based on key themes and trends that impact our corporate clients.
In addition to recently executed transactions, our current focus areas include solutions spanning hybrid capital, non-traditional project finance, bespoke future flow financings, tax credit monetization, and special situations financings.
Through a cross-divisional effort with our markets-facing division, the team offers both best-efforts and principal executions for clients in developed and emerging markets.
The team employs a OneGS approach to collaborate with our colleagues in offices in the broader Latin American and EMEA regions to source the most effective financing solutions for our clients.
Responsibilities
The associate role in SCFG combines many of the features of classic investment banking, principal investing and sales and trading.
Associate will leverage existing modeling and client relationship skills and develop new business generation skills. Associates in SCFG are an integral member of nimble, dynamic teams and will be actively involved in managing transaction processes, leading junior analysts, developing models and analyses, and working across different coverage teams on a variety of projects simultaneously.
Associates have opportunities to engage with clients, get exposure to GS leadership and develop significant product knowledge while building a broad skill set in a short period of time.
Associates will work closely with senior bankers in preparing written and oral presentations, running asset and financing analysis, developing credit information for ratings agencies and investors, reviewing legal and other offering documents, and assisting in the valuation and financing associated with M&A, LBO and asset sale transactions.
Expertise and Skills :
Basic Qualifications
- Candidate must have completed an undergraduate degree and be available to start immediately (subject to any notice period required by their current employer, if applicable)
- 3+ years of relevant experience in Investment Banking, Structured Finance, Securitization, ABS, or Asset Backed Finance
Preferred Qualifications / Qualities
- Strong modeling and financial analysis expertise
- Experience of working on complex, structured transactions
- Ability to form independent judgments and move transactions forward
- Self-starter with an entrepreneurial attitude
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills
- Good presentation / communication skills with ability to effectively interact with groups across divisions (., traders, sales, investment bankers)
- Ability to balance multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail
- Drive and enthusiasm with a team orientation
