Essential Job Functions
- Maintains constant surveillance of the pool and the pool areas.
- Maintains current knowledge of all emergency procedures for the pool and pool area.
- Responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with policies and procedures; provides timely and accurate reports and follow-ups.
- Knows, understands, and consistently applies health and safety rules, policies, guidelines for the pool and pool area.
- Conveys information on programs and schedules to residents.
- Maintains accurate records required by HMC and state agencies.
- Perform equipment checks and ensure availability of required equipment.
- Perform chemical testing as prescribed; take immediate corrective action as needed. Ensures that all pools are chemically balanced for operations according to codes and standards set by the County Health Department.
- Conducts pre-opening inspections of all pool, deck, structures, and equipment in the facility, informing appropriate management of all hazards that may endanger guests or employees.
- Informs supervisor regarding any safety questions or concerns.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Education
High school diploma (or equivalent) required. CPR certified required.
Experience and Qualifications
- Must be 18 years or older.
- One to two years previous lifeguard experience required.
- Possess a current CPR for the Professional Rescuer; AED; Basic First Aid Certifications
- Possess a current YMCA Lifeguarding or Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification or any other acceptable lifeguarding certification.
- Ability to maintain certification level of physical and mental alertness.
- Ability to react to emergency situations by quick movements, strenuous activity, and on occasion assist or lift persons in distress of varying weights.
- Required to remain alert to dangerous situations while sitting, standing, or walking for various lengths of time.
- Ability to communicate verbally across distances in a noisy environment.
- Must have reliable transportation.

Requires a self-motivated, reliable team player who pays close attention to detail and who can demonstrate excellent customer service.
Reliable and dependable attendance and punctuality are essential for this position.
