Senior Graphic Designer
Summary
Reporting to the Senior Executive Director of Marketing within University Communications and Marketing (UCM), the Senior Graphic Designer is responsible for art direction and graphic design for print, web, and environmental graphics.
The Senior Graphic Designer works in close partnership with UCM colleagues from the Web Communications, Campus Engagement and Executive Communications, and Content Strategy teams as well as with partners in the University’s colleges, schools, and administrative units to ensure compelling graphics and visuals are created and integrated across the University’s communications channels.
The Senior Graphic Designer assists in developing and implementing the University’s visual branding guidelines. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Highly organized, able to multitask, work well under budgetary and deadline pressure and have proven client service skills, working effectively with internal and external groups.
- Experience in print and web design, environmental graphics (signage, displays, installations, etc.).
- Experience in providing effective design support for high-profile events such as Commencement, festivals, forums, executive presentations and more.
- Proficient in using Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop).
- A superior understanding of design principles.
- Must be flexible to work on weekends and possible late hours depending on project.
- Ability to communicate appropriately with varied groups of people, including clients, senior officers, external partners, vendors, and others.
- Demonstrates the capability to consistently adhere to and uphold brand principles across all design projects and developed assets.
Required Education and / or Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in graphic design or related field
- 7 10 years of experience and proven excellence in the development of print and digital designs. Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the marketing and design field in an academic setting preferred.
- Strong persuasion and presentation skills. Compensation Information This position is classified as "exempt, salaried" and is assigned to pay grade 26.
