Layout Specialist
Overview
The Layout Specialist plays a critical role within the Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) department. This position is responsible for accurately and precisely shooting layout points in the field to guide the modeling team in creating detailed building information models (BIM). The Layout Technician contributes to the seamless integration of virtual design and construction processes by providing essential field data for precise project execution.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with the VDC Manager and project teams to comprehend layout requirements and project objectives.
- Translate plans and blueprints into actionable steps, performing construction stakeout and capturing layout points with precision.
- Utilize advanced survey equipment including Windows 10, Total Station, level, and chalk line to execute layout tasks efficiently.
- Perform essential location calculations to provide critical field data for the modeling team's BIM creation.
- Maintain construction documents, ensuring accuracy and up-to-date information for reference.
- Safeguard and maintain survey equipment, keeping it in proper working order and ready for field use.
- Manage inventory of materials within the work vehicle, ensuring availability and readiness.
- Employ Trimble Field Points software to comprehend and make necessary changes to files, contributing to accurate layout execution.
- Collaborate with on-site teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure alignment with project requirements.
- Communicate effectively with the VDC Manager and other team members to provide updates on layout progress and challenges.
- Contribute innovative ideas for optimizing layout processes and workflows, enhancing overall efficiency.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.Minimum 3 years of experience in surveying, layout, or related field preferred, with a focus on electrical construction.Familiarity with surveying equipment and tools, including total stations and GPS systems.Strong mathematical and analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail.Effective communication skills to convey accurate field data to the modeling team and project stakeholders.Proficiency in relevant software and technology used for layout and surveying tasks.Demonstrated proficiency in reading blueprints and plans.Problem-solving abilities to troubleshoot and resolve any discrepancies or challenges in layout points.Ability to work outdoors and travel to job sites as required.Adherence to safety protocols and guidelines for field work.
