Overview
There is one (1) vacancy with the Department of Transportation Services , Administration Division. The Chief Safety & Security Officer position plans, organizes, directs and oversees safety, emergency, and security design criteria, policies, plans, procedures, work instructions, practices, for the department and activities for multimodal transportation. The position has overall responsibility for the department including the Safety and Security Office including health, safety, environmental, quality, system safety and compliance, emergency, cyber security, and security functions.

Special Work Requirements
Must be able to handle highly confidential information. Incumbent of this position is designated as a Disaster Response Worker whose responsibilities may require night and weekend work during natural disasters, and other emergencies (e.g., when 24-hour staffing of the City's Emergency Operating Center is activated). Regular office hour and work schedule changes and may include weekdays, weekends, and hours outside of 7 : 45 a.m. to 4 : 30 p.m.
Salary & Benefits
Salary : This position pays an annual salary of $95,424 - $135,804 .

Education Requirement
Equivalent to graduation from a regionally-accredited college or university with specialization in city planning, architecture, engineering, economics, sociology, public administration or a related field. Education obtained outside of the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at a regionally-accredited college / university in the United States. In order to receive credit for the education, a foreign credential evaluation (FCE) must be provided. We also reserve the right to request further information about your academic program, evidence of comparability, or an original transcript.
Experience Requirement
Five (5) years of professional work experience performing safety, security, and / or emergency systems work, one of which shall have been in a supervisory capacity. Such experience must have demonstrated knowledge of principles, practices, purposes, scope and techniques of safety, security and / or emergency systems; laws and ordinances relating to safety, security and / or emergency systems; research, sources and uses of safety, security and / or emergency systems information; principles and practices of supervision, and the ability to plan and supervise the work of subordinates; translate ideas and recommendations into objectives, systems and plans which are in conformance with laws and regulations related to safety, security and / or emergency systems; organize and plan projects; make effective decisions and recommendations; speak effectively to individuals and groups; conduct investigations and meetings with emergency responders; and prepare reports.
