POSITION OVERVIEW
The Payroll Management position is responsible for the accurate preparation, documentation, distribution, and reconciliation of payroll and for the overall administration of the payroll and timekeeping systems. This role serves as the subject-matter expert and primary point of contact for all payroll and timekeeping matters, ensuring full compliance with applicable city, state, provincial, local, and federal laws, regulations, and internal company policies.
Key responsibilities include reviewing payroll calculations and deductions for accuracy, preparing required tax filings and reports, and responding promptly to employee inquiries regarding pay or payroll reporting. This position also supports related Human Capital systems and operational needs, proactively identifying and resolving payroll issues to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance across all processes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Payroll
- Processes regular and off-cycle payroll for multi-state employer with the highest focus on timely, accurate work and compliance with all applicable policies, laws and statutes.
- Audits employee data and timesheets and responds to questions, working with managers, employees, HC and vendors to ensure accurate payroll records and reporting of time worked, time off, attendance, leaves of absence, and other related items.
- Manages post-payroll processing, reporting, and record retention; ensures all payroll deductions (e.g., 401(k), FSA / HSA, garnishments) are transmitted, validated, and reconciled.
- Conducts regular audits of payroll system to ensure salaries, earnings, deductions, benefits, garnishments, accruals, taxes, entitlement balances and other critical data are correct, compliant and functioning. Leads remediation projects / process for such items where appropriate.
- Reviews and processes payroll tax filings and year-end payroll related activities including W-2, HSA, ACA and other documents ensuring compliance, accuracy and timeliness.
- Completes all internal / external tasks, requests for organizational reporting and analytics needs related to payroll, employment, wages and their regulatory reporting and other related areas of responsibility and visibility.
- Serves as the subject-matter expert for payroll, timekeeping, time-away-from-work policies, and related procedures; delivers training and guidance to employees, managers, and system users.
HRIS / HCM
Serves as SME for Payroll and Time / WFM modules of HRIS with responsibility over some Core tasks related to Payroll and Time / WFM. Stays current and assists colleagues with awareness and comprehension on all applicable system updates and enhancement opportunities and relevant underlying BSB processes and policies for assigned areas.Leads or assists with building, and executing system configuration, test plans, and integrations for assigned areas.Identifies and troubleshoots system defects, integration issues, and inaccurate configuration for assigned areas; leads or assists solutioning and related project communications, timelines, configuration and testing.Completes individual or batch HRIS transactions following established guidelines in assigned areas.Supports data integrity and information security standards through automation, system governance, preventative controls, regular maintenance and data audits for assigned areas.Develops strong relationships with vendors, consultants, and IT to troubleshoot system issues and enhancements in modules of responsibility for assigned areas.Maintains awareness of appropriate governance, release cycle management, and process documentation for assigned areas and processes.Other

Minimum Qualifications

Experience must be with Dayforce (formerly Ceridian), and must be able to independently lead the Dayforce Payroll module.2 additional years of experience within a Human Resources capacity with local, state and federal guidelines in Human Resources operations and employment law.Experience working in a multi-state environment.Demonstrated Payroll administration experience with multiple employers in complex, or changing environments.Preferred Qualifications

COMPENSATION
The posted pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role but may include ranges from the different geographies where this position may be based. New employees' starting pay is usually from the start of the range to approximately 25% of the max, more qualified and / or experienced employees may start near the middle of the range for their geography. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range.
Compensation for our organization is based on factors that include the role, required knowledge, skills, abilities and competencies, and candidates' relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. Our pay ranges are based on national living wage indexes, such as MIT's living wage index, to enable us to pay our employees beyond what are standard practices for many employers, and also take into account geographically-specific recent compensation market survey data for each position.
