JOB SUMMARY
- This position performs a variety of routine-to-complex duties including but not limited to upholding the mission of Columbia College in carrying out the duties of the position;
- a commitment to positive interpersonal behaviors, professional communication, diversity, integrity, leadership, stewardship, respect and accountability to students and employees is essential;
- coordinates and oversees the admissions process of evening, international, and transfer students; recruits appropriate students to the College, represents the College to external constituencies, counsels prospective students and families, reviews applications, and contributes to the effective operation of the Admissions Office;
and performs related duties as assigned. This class works within a general outline of work to be performed and develops work methods and sequences under general supervision and reports to the Director of Admissions.
Qualifications
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
- Recruits and manages the overall student population, to include but not be limited, school visits, attendance at college fair programs, extensive phone and electronic outreach to prospective students and parents / guardians, general relationship building with prospective students and parents / guardians.
- Develops liaisons with local technical schools' transfer representatives to inform students about Columbia College's programs and opportunities.
- Discretion and professional judgment to determine the most appropriate students to recruit to Columbia College.
- Coordinates transfer recruitment events and travel, including research on appropriate technical schools to visit, scheduling of visits, and appropriate follow-up to build and maintain an ongoing relationship with school's transfer coordinators.
- Reviews applications, evaluates transcripts and makes decisions about which students are admissible to the College.
- Develops and maintains professional working relationships with College's PDSO, DSO and Registrar to assist with the effectiveness of the admissions process for various student populations.
- Provides annual assessment of travel recruitment results.
- Represents Admissions within various College committees.
- Completes specific projects as assigned by Dean of Enrollment Management.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK :
- Bachelor's degree in education, business administration or closely related field.
- Prior experience working in a college environment with interactions with faculty, staff, and students preferred.
- Some experience in sales / recruitment or college / program admissions preferred.
- Knowledge and / or the ability to articulate the strengths and needs of an excellent liberal arts college.
- Must be detail-oriented with good personal planning and time management skills.
- Must be able to work flexible hours which may include early / late hours, occasional weekends, and the ability to travel extensively as needed.
- Must have a valid SC Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, utilizing Outlook, Word, Excel, and Microsoft Teams; experience with utilizing Google and data management tools;
must have strong computer and systems skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
Requires sedentary work that involves walking, standing, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a recurring basis or routine keyboard operations.
WORKING CONDITIONS :
Work environment risks exposure to no known environmental hazards.
