Job Description
Johnson Service Group is searching for a Senior Structural Engineer on a long-term contract basis to support the Sentinel Program, which is modernizing the ground-based leg of the U.S. nuclear deterrent triad, including intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) systems and launch infrastructure. In this role as Senior Structural Engineer, you will support the structural design for the project. This will entail originating / checking complex structural calculations, specifications, material requisitions, and technical studies or reports. Additionally, checking of design drawings and review and coordination of vendor information, and leading technical discussions and constructability reviews.
- Targeted pay for this position is $75.00 / Hour
- Local candidates preferred, although (per diem and Mob / Demob will be considered for out-of-state candidates).
- Long-term Contract 12 months with possible extension

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE :
Requires a bachelor's degree in Structural / Civil Engineering (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience?Prior engineering team leadership experience, relevant experience includes previous experience supervising othersAbility to independently execute the detailed design of complex steel and / or concrete structuresThorough knowledge and application of the AISC Steel Construction Manual, ACI 318, IBC, and ASCE 7Proficient in the use of structural analysis software such as GTSTRUDL or STAAD.ProThorough knowledge of engineering deliverables, such as drawings, specifications, and material requisitions, and of construction methods for concrete and steel structuresExcellent communication skills (both verbal and written)Understands work processes of other disciplines and departments on projects.Ability to express technical issues clearly and concisely, both written and verballyAbility to resolve design issues with subordinates, suppliers, other engineering disciplines, construction, and the clientPREFERRED QUALIFICATION :
Proficient in the use of Mathcad or similar softwareExperience with procurement automation toolsDesign experience with Unified Facilities Criteria and the Whole Building Design GuideIntermediate knowledge of developing CSI Masterformat specifications, or SpecsIntactThorough knowledge of the provisions of ACI 349, ASCE 4-98 standardsRegistered Professional Engineer in the USA (Civil or Structural Engineering)Possess active security clearancePrior experience working with government agencies, preferably the Department of DefenseFUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Designs structures using advanced knowledge of structural analysis, including statics, dynamics, and materials engineeringDetermines the appropriate use of various structural elements such as steel, wood, masonry, and concrete to ensure appropriate material is used based on load or stress requirementsOriginates and checks complex structural engineering deliverables, such as steel and concrete calculations, specifications, and material requisitionsPrepares or assists in the preparation of cost estimates, quantity take-offs for proposals, forecasts, and change ordersPrepares or assists in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports, or proposalsPlans, coordinates, or prepares equipment, work and material specifications, bid evaluations and award recommendationsCoordinates structural engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction, and other functional groupsPrepares procurement and subcontract requisition documents and performs associated technical bid evaluations with award recommendationsProvides technical assistance to other structural personnel and interacts with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issuesProvides assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project structural requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project executionMentors and assists more junior structural team membersJSG offers medical, dental, vision, life insurance options, short-term disability, 401(k), weekly pay, and more.
