Senior Big Data Administrator

Job Description

For this role, we are seeking a Senior Big Data Administrator with a balance of skills in database design, physical implementation, and performance tuning. You will be part of a team that is supporting cloud Data Warehouse and Data Lake environments implemented on AWS or Azure for some of Epsilon's most prominent Database Marketing clients.

What You'll Do :

• Coordinate and maintain Cloudera Hadoop clusters across development, staging, and production environments.
• Monitor cluster health and performance using Cloudera Manager and related tools.
• Run and optimize core components including HDFS, YARN, Hive, Impala, Spark, Kafka, and HBase.
• Implement and enforce security policies using Cloudera tools such as Ranger, Sentry, and Kerberos.
• Perform upgrades, patches, and configuration changes with minimal downtime.
• Collaborate with internal data engineering teams and external clients to support marketing analytics workloads.
• Automate operational tasks using scripting and configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible).
• Address and resolve issues related to data ingestion, processing, and storage.
• Conduct capacity planning and performance tuning based on client needs.
• Maintain clear documentation for architecture, processes, and operational procedures.
• Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to provide 24 / 7 support for production environments, ensuring rapid response and resolution of critical issues.
