Nuclear Medicine Technologist Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Medical Imaging Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and participating in technical tasks, tests, and determinations involving radioactive materials and measurement instrumentation.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to operate radiation detection and measurement instrumentation, including stationary imaging devices, scintillation gamma apparatus, and instruments for in vitro counting. They will also be responsible for calibrating instruments and reviewing calibration data to detect trends indicating instrument malfunction.
A Medical Imaging Specialist at our organization must be able to calculate data, including results of patient studies and radioactive decay, and evaluate recorded images for technical quality. They will also be responsible for processing computerized image data, including function curves and reconstructed SPECT images.
In addition to these responsibilities, the successful candidate will be required to assume care for the physical and psychological needs of patients of all ages during an examination. This may include initiating life support measures, if necessary, and maintaining inventory of supplies in assigned areas.
A Medical Imaging Specialist with our organization will also be responsible for preparing and maintaining records concerning radiopharmaceutical receiving, dispensing, and disposal activities. They will monitor the Nuclear Medicine Department with portable survey meters for possible contamination and perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Required Qualifications :
Graduate or completion of program that meets eligibility requirements for registry / certification or currently holds required registry or certification.
None required beyond above education / certification requirements.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Ability to use office-related computer software.
Possess knowledge of radiation protection and safety.
General computer knowledge.
IV placement and management skills.
