Patient Access Services supports the coordination of care for new and returning patients at MD Anderson Cancer Center. The team ensures timely access to services by screening medical records, verifying insurance, and providing financial counseling. Their work is essential to delivering a seamless and supportive experience for patients entering the cancer care journey.
The primary purpose of the Patient Access Specialist is to facilitate access to MD Anderson services by screening new patients, verifying insurance, and coordinating financial counseling. This role ensures compliance with institutional policies and supports patients through the intake and registration process.
The ideal candidate holds a high school diploma and brings at least three years of experience in healthcare, insurance, or a related field. An associate's degree in business, healthcare, or a related discipline is preferred, along with five years of experience in a multi-specialty physician practice. Certification through the National Association of Healthcare Access Management (CHAA or CHAM) is preferred. Candidates must pass a pre-employment skills test administered by Human Resources.
