Staff Accountant

We’re seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support the financial operations of our growing organization, with a specific focus on compliance, project-based accounting, and federal contract billing.

About the Role

We are seeking a versatile and experienced Staff Accountant to perform core accounting tasks, including reconciliations, project-based financial reporting, payroll processing, and billing in accordance with government contracting standards. This position is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in accounting principles, hands-on experience using Deltek and ADP systems, and a working knowledge of FAR and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS). You will help ensure the accuracy of internal records, compliance with federal guidelines, and timely invoicing and financial closeouts.

This hybrid role requires at least one day per week in our Rockville, MD office to foster collaboration and ensure strong alignment with our finance and contracts teams.

Key Responsibilities

Core Accounting Functions

• Perform monthly account reconciliations, including bank, credit card, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger accounts.
• Assist in month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and financial reporting.
• Record and reconcile payroll transactions using ADP and coordinate with HR on payroll-related changes.
• Maintain project-level financial records and allocations in accordance with the contract structure.

Salary Range

The salary range for the Staff Accountant position is competitive and commensurate with experience, typically between $54,000 – $64,000 annually, depending on experience, education, and qualifications.
