Quest Learning and Assessment Program Coordinator

The College of Natural Sciences is hiring a Program Coordinator for the Quest Learning and Assessment platform.

Quest is a digital learning platform which assists student learning and assessment by providing instructors with tools to create learning modules, homework assignments, quizzes, reviews, and exams. An early leader in the digital learning space, Quest is a non-profit entity originally developed by UT faculty to pioneer high quality learning support for students. It combines an extensive library of over 60,000 items with a service culture for faculty and students who use the system. It is provided to the educational community to support quality STEM content for students, ranging from pre-AP through undergraduate studies.

Responsibilities

This position combines responsibilities for engagement with instructors and other Quest staff to develop and refine content, develop and deliver on content-oriented projects, to assist with new feature development, and to assist with oversight of Quest staff.

Stakeholder Relations - Assist instructors in designing, creating, and implementing hybrid course content using Quest. Identify and engage with potential new users, with the goal of broadening the Quest user base. Oversee user training and documentation. Synthesize instructor and student feedback into functional specifications for upgrades and improvements to the Quest platform.

Quest Content Stewardship - Curate, organize, and maintain high-quality assessment content aligned with undergraduate STEM curricula (e.g., physics, calculus, chemistry, biology, and statistics). Manage review workflows to validate content accuracy, pedagogical soundness, and alignment with learning objectives. Assist in the evaluation and integration of AI tools for item generation, tagging, and quality control.

Quest Content Project Management - Identify project objectives and create project summaries. Develop project documentation, manage communication, provide status updates, and monitor and control project timelines. Obtain formal acceptance from project sponsors, review lessons learned with project team. Recruit, hire and onboard staff, assign tasks, supervise work, and assess performance.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in STEM-related field with five years of relevant experience.

Familiarity with undergraduate-level STEM content, especially physics, calculus (through multivariable) chemistry, biology, and statistics

Excellent written communication and ability to edit technical and academic content

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced degree in STEM-related field

Strong foundation in educational assessment design and pedagogical principles

Minimum 2 years of experience in academic content development, academic program coordination, or project management

Proven supervisory experience, particularly in managing student employees

Familiarity with AI-assisted tools for educational content generation, curriculum enhancement, or instructional design

Salary Range

$70,000 + depending on qualifications

Working Conditions

May work under standard office conditions with repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation

This position is based on the UT-Austin campus

Occasional evenings, weekend, or holiday work may be required

Retirement Plan Eligibility : The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
