Senior Tax Associate

ATA provides a wide array of accounting, auditing, tax, and advisory services for clients ranging from small family-owned businesses to international corporations. Headquartered in Jackson, Tennessee, since 1940, ATA has over 250 employees across 14 locations throughout the Southeast.

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Tax Associate to join our Tax department on a full-time, salaried basis. This role is an excellent opportunity for a tax professional with 3 - 5 years of public accounting experience who is passionate about serving clients, solving complex tax issues, and mentoring junior staff. The Senior Tax Associate will take on a leadership role within the team, ensuring the accurate preparation of tax returns, offering strategic solutions to client tax challenges, and fostering strong relationships with clients. What You'll Do

  • Prepare complex individual, corporate, partnership, and other tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws.
  • Lead tax compliance engagements from planning to completion, coordinating with clients and other team members to meet deadlines and deliver exceptional results.
  • Conduct detailed tax research and provide recommendations on various tax issues, strategies, and planning opportunities for clients.
  • Supervise and mentor junior tax staff by providing training, feedback, and guidance on technical tax matters and best practices.
  • Communicate tax findings and recommendations to clients in a clear and professional manner, addressing their inquiries and concerns effectively.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, serving as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact for tax-related inquiries.

What You Bring

  • 3 to 5 years of relevant public accounting or tax experience, ideally within a public accounting or professional services firm.
  • Proficiency in preparing complex individual, corporate, partnership, and other tax returns.
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws, with the ability to conduct thorough tax research and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and lead tax compliance engagements from start to finish.
  • Excellent leadership skills with experience supervising and mentoring junior staff.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to maintain and build strong client relationships.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; licensed CPA or CPA-eligible is highly preferred.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail while working in a fast-paced environment.
