Job Description
American Traveler is hiring a night shift RN for an acute Emergency Department in California requiring a CA RN license and a minimum of 2 years ER experience.
Responsibilities
Work in a 24+ bed Emergency Department in an acute care hospital settingCares for a mixed population of adult and pediatric patients, averaging 150 ER patients per dayNurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 4 with charge nurse and PCT supportUses Cerner FirstNet EMR system and Phillips telemetry monitors; experience with Cerner is requiredVentilator and moderate conscious sedation procedures performed; comp testing for sedation required prior to start12-hour night shifts (7p-7a) with every other weekend requiredNo floating requiredBlock scheduling is not availableCare for a high-acuity population, including short-term psych holds and a significant homeless populationPatients requiring higher levels of care are transferred to a regional centerAcute, fast-paced environment with a mix of adult and pediatric emergenciesNavy scrubs requiredHospitalist, intensivist, RT, and pharmacy are available 24 / 7; no in-house IV teamOrientation is provided with two unit-specific shiftsMust work into perm staff holiday rotationReturning candidates must not have been directly employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health within the past yearRequirements
Active unencumbered CA RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not acceptedMinimum 2 years of Emergency Department RN experience requiredCertifications required : BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSSCOVID-19 vaccination requiredModerate conscious sedation competency testing must be passed prior to startPrior experience with Cerner EMR preferredDriver’s license copy required for considerationTwo references are required : one supervisor reference from the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor reference from the last 3 years, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehireBenefits
