Job description

Government Operations Consultant III

Serves as a Government Operations Consultant III through the application of extensive analytical and legal research, interpretive skills and techniques, and application of highly technical state and federal law. This position uses numerous investigative and informational sources / databases and completes extremely high liability work. Its entire focus is in support of Florida's sexual predator / offender program.

Specific duties include :

Conducting case reviews by researching, preparing, interpreting, and analyzing criminal and civil case information to apply state and federal law and determine if an individual meets Florida's statutory guidelines for registration requirements as a sexual offender or sexual predator;

Understanding and applying sexual offender / predator registration laws to individuals with a sexual offense conviction or those required to register in another state / jurisdiction;

Researching and analyzing case law for policy impact as it relates to Florida's sexual offender / predator registration laws;

Determining sexual offender / predator registration information to be maintained, updated, and disseminated to the public via the Florida Sexual Offender / Predator Public Registry website;

Assisting in coordination of registration requirements and technical updates regarding sexual offenders / predators with other units in EIS;

Reviewing, tracking, and responding to correspondence received by the unit via mail, e-mail, fax, or phone;

Corresponding with Florida State Attorney offices and local law enforcement regarding Florida's registration laws and sexual offenders / predators;

Assisting in the development of management and operational procedures; written and oral communications; and preparing technical and procedural manuals; and

Researching, analyzing, developing, and delivering instructional methods and techniques to support the training of departmental activities to the criminal justice community.

Knowledge of the basic principles and practices of law enforcement and the criminal justice system;

Knowledge of office procedures and practices;

Knowledge of the methods of data collection and analysis;

Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective verbal and written communication;

Knowledge of basic management principles and practice;

Ability to collect, evaluate, and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations, solve problems, document work flow, and other activities relating to the improvement of management practices;

Ability to organize data into logical formats for presentation in reports, documents, and other written materials;

Ability to conduct research;

Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures; and

Ability to prepare professional papers, research studies and evaluation and investigative reports.

Base salary : $52,530.14

Starting salary will be at the minimum of the class pay range, unless otherwise dictated by FDLE's pay policy. The elements of this selection process may include a work sample and / or interview. Future vacancies may be filled from this position advertisement.
