Compensation : Starting at  $60,000 / Year DOE Plus Commission

Hours : Sun-Thur / Tue-Sat Hours vary depending on need

General Statement of Responsibilities :

Through the combination of marketing and sales efforts, the Retirement Counselor is responsible for generating and managing leads to qualify prospects and move them through the admission process for the purpose of achieving budgeted occupancy targets. With assistance, develop the property’s marketing, public relations and advertising programs to develop a growing base of referral sources, and to promote the programs provided by the property. Maintain a thorough knowledge of the property’s product and services to effectively and accurately represent the property to referral sources and prospects by spending most of the workweek marketing and selling outside of the community. Maintain a working knowledge of the local market trends and competitors to assist in development of sales and marketing strategies and action plans. Comply with sales guidelines.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Develops an organized marketing and sales approach to effectively move prospects through the sales process to achieve budgeted occupancy targets.
  • Is responsible for maintaining budgeted occupancy by both generating the number of qualified inquiries, referrals, tours and then effectively closing the sale.
  • Utilizes recognized sales methods and achieves targeted closing ratios through effective information gathering and presenting valid value-based options that “make sense” to the client.
  • Keeps referral, mailing list and customer information up-to-date.
  • Identifies, builds and develops an effective network of community and professional sources for potential resident referrals and establish relationships that assure continuing opportunities for the property through spending the majority of the workweek out of the property engaged in these activities.
  • Achieves and maintains required number of marketing contacts per week. Maintains outside referral database of qualified contacts.
  • Develops active referral base within the community by making personal visits and sponsoring networking functions at the property. Accurately represent the community, its services and pricing structure in all interactions.
  • Monitors condition of all model rooms and respite rooms daily. Ensures that all rooms are ready for tour activity. In conjunction with Executive Director, furnishes, decorates and appoints model and respite rooms.
  • Attends all appropriate networking functions in the area.
  • Conducts morning walk-through of community to ensure readiness for property tours. Ensures all common areas needing attention are addressed at the beginning of each day, prior to any tour activity.
  • Track referral sources, inquiries, and conversion data to measure effectiveness and guide ongoing marketing improvements.
  • Collaborate with the Admissions and Operations teams to ensure all necessary documentation and information are processed for successful move-ins.
  • Participate in daily stand-up and department meetings to communicate key issues, share updates, and maintain alignment with overall community goals.
  • Maintain current knowledge of senior living, assisted living, and dementia-specific care through ongoing education.
  • Work a flexible schedule as needed to support events, tours, and community outreach.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

Education / Experience :

Minimum, high school diploma or equivalent required. Preferred,1- 3 years of experience in sales or marketing—preferably within senior living, healthcare, or hospitality—will be considered. Proven success in achieving occupancy or sales goals is required.

Licenses / Certifications :

A valid driver’s license required with application submission and must be maintained throughout employment.

Applicants must have a reputation for honesty and trustworthiness.  Must be responsible and able to exercise good judgment, accept administrative supervision, pay attention to detail, follow instructions, including the ability to interact effectively and communicate with people in a professional and courteous manner.  Must be highly confidential and work as a team with other staff.  Applicants should be sensitive to clients’ needs.

Skills :

Strong team building, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective peer relationships with coworkers within the Department, community-wide, and the public. Must be able to express ideas clearly, concisely, address audiences effectively, and exercise balanced judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions. Willing to be part of a team and cooperate in accomplishing department goals and objectives. Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, take initiative, be proactive, and function in a rapidly changing environment. Ability to work with people of all social and ethnic backgrounds, resolve conflicts, negotiate situations, and facilitate consensus.

Physical and Personal Requirements :

Normal office environment. Sit or stand for long periods of time. Reach, bend, climb, stoop, lift up to 25 lbs. repetitive hand movement; use and view PC. Reliable transportation and car insurance as required by the state. Travel as needed.

Compliance :

Each employee plays a key role in creating a compliance culture. Employees are expected to learn and comply with all Lantern Crest policies and procedures. One must have the ability to understand the implications and complexities of all compliance policies. Participation in all compliance training is mandatory and generally has a heightened awareness of policies and regulations that are specific to one’s department and position. All Lantern Crest employees are expected to report violations or suspected violations of compliance policies or regulations.

Other :

Applicants must successfully pass a pre-screening tuberculin skin test or x-ray and a urine drug screen test. Candidates will be required to undergo a physical to ensure health is adequate to perform all duties of the position. Applicants must complete application and authorization form, both must be submitted to Human Resources prior to the close date indicated. Applicants will be required to undergo a background check consisting of fingerprinting and criminal records check with DOJ and FBI.
