Description :

The Sr. Dealer Development Strategy Manager plays a key role in shaping the long-term direction and structure of the dealer network to support sustained business growth. This individual will lead network expansion efforts, support dealer optimization initiatives, evaluate alternative distribution methods, and partner with Sales to develop strategic plans at both the dealer and market level. Success in this role will require strong strategic thinking, financial acumen, and the ability to build collaborative relationships across the organization and with external partners.

Distribution Strategy

  • Refine, document, and update the Develon distribution strategy for North America.
  • Develop and gain alignment on the desired distribution network footprint.

Network Expansion

  • Analyze market potential and identify strategic growth opportunities for dealer expansion.
  • Develop and execute expansion strategies into open territories, aligning with long-term objectives.
  • Conduct dealer prospecting activities, including candidate identification, evaluation, and business plan support.
  • Network Optimization

  • Formulate and implement plans for current dealers to grow their operations and market reach.
  • Identify and support dealer exit strategies when performance or leadership criteria are not met.
  • Drive succession planning efforts to ensure long-term dealer sustainability and stability.
  • Alternative Distribution Expansion Methods

  • Identify and evaluate mergers and acquisitions (M&A) opportunities; lead due diligence, pro forma financial modeling, and ROI analysis to support recommendations.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with private equity firms and potential investment partners.
  • Explore and assess non-traditional distribution models to complement and expand the existing dealer network.
  • District Manager Support

  • Partner with Sales leadership to define long-term dealer- and market-level strategies aimed at topline growth.
  • Provide strategic input on optimal territory coverage and resource allocation.
  • Develop trusted relationships with dealers to proactively guide M&A strategies and transition plans.
  • Requirements :

  • Education : Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Marketing, or a related field (MBA preferred).
  • Experience : 10+ years of relevant experience in distribution strategy, dealer network development, corporate strategy, or M&A .
  • Industry Knowledge : Strong understanding of heavy equipment products, market dynamics, and dealer operations.
  • Analytical Skills : Demonstrated success in market analysis, business planning, and strategic growth initiatives. Strong financial modeling and analytical skills; experience with ROI and pro forma analysis.
  • Communication Skills : Excellent verbal and written communication skills for training, negotiations, and relationship building.
  • Travel : Willingness to travel frequently to meet with current and prospective dealers across the U.S.A. and Canada.
  • Tech Proficiency : Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and data analysis tools.
