Pediatric Hospitalist Job Details

Position : Locum Tenens Pediatric Hospitalist

Location : Eureka, CA 95501 – Northern California pediatric healthcare jobs in a beautiful coastal city with access to beaches, redwood forests, and a thriving arts scene.

Start Date : February 1, 2026 (expedited privileging available for earlier start)

Duration : Ongoing, per diem

Shift : 24-hour call (6am–6am); remote call coverage, not required to be in-house

Patient Census : Well babies 1–5 (up to 6–7), NICU 0–5 (usually 1–3), Pediatrics 0–1 (usually zero)

Estimated Hours per Week : 36

Estimated Weekly Salary Range : $4840–$5190

Pediatric Hospitalist Qualifications

Active California medical license (required for California pediatric hospitalist jobs)

Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatrics (within 3–5 years of residency)

PALS certification required

NRP certification required

Minimum 2 years of recent hospital clinical experience in pediatrics

Proficiency in neonatal airway management, intubation, and central line placement (UVC / UAC)

Ability to provide case logs if requested (for surgical specialties)

Explanation required for clinical activity gaps greater than 3 months

Pediatric Hospitalist Responsibilities

Deliver 24-hour call coverage for pediatric and neonatal patients in a hospital setting

Manage well baby, NICU, and pediatric patients with low average census

Perform neonatal airway management and intubation

Manage neonatal air leak / pneumothorax, including needle decompression

Perform emergent UVC placement in the delivery room

Place UVC / UAC lines as needed

Interpret EKGs and perform lumbar punctures

Collaborate with emergency department and anesthesia teams for advanced procedures

Document patient encounters and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams
