Supervises : May supervise volunteers, work-study students, interns, or AmeriCorps members as appropriate.

Position Summary

The Accountant supports the organization's financial operations by managing day-to-day accounting tasks and ensuring accurate financial reporting.

This role works closely with the Accounting Manager and Chief Finance Officer (CFO) and will report directly to the CFO.

What You'll Do

• Support the team with billing, accounts receivable, and revenue recognition responsibilities.
• Lead and execute accounting operations including daily cash management, accurate application of receipts, reconciliation of payments and monitoring of aged accounts receivable to reduce outstanding balances.
• Generate invoices based on contract terms, respond to billing inquiries, and ensure accuracy.
• Monitor collections : follow up on outstanding receivables and work with internal teams to resolve payment delays.
• Complete bank account reconciliations and create related journal entries.
• Manage incoming vendor bills : enter into the accounting system, ensure proper approvals, and schedule timely payments.
• Support vendor onboarding and documentation (W-9s, payment info, etc.).
• Maintain clean, organized records of all payables, receivables, and communication history.
• Assist with month-end tasks such as AR / AP aging reviews and reconciliations.
• Identify and escalate discrepancies or irregularities to ensure timely resolution.
