Purpose

As a member of the College of Education Research Administration (COERA) team, serve as a junior level research administrator. Perform proposal and preaward activities for an assigned College level constituency. The overall goal of this position is to expand the scope of COERA and enhance the college services to create a robust research enterprise within COE. By taking on this role the employee will gain experience that may later lead them to potential growth opportunities within the team.

Responsibilities

PROPOSALS : Assist in COERA Preaward activities. Assist faculty members, students, and other researchers with the preparation and submission of new, transfer, competitive renewal, and competitive continuations grant and contract proposals to a sponsoring agency, company, or foundation. Research the submission process for each application, including rules, regulations, and requirements for each sponsor, as well as the individual program announcement. Communicate with the sponsor if questions about the rules / guidelines arise. Meet / confer with the researcher to establish a budget planning and proposal docs for proposal submission. Create a detailed proposal budget and budget justification. If a subaward is proposed, communicate with the subaward organization in order to procure the requisite documents, budget, and assurances. Review proposal documentation for RFP required formatting and content inclusion including biosketches, research portions, and other sponsor-required documents. Prepare the grant application via the electronic submission portal for each sponsor and upload the requisite documents. Create an electronic UT RMS Funding Proposal (FP) form and coordinate with OSP regarding the proposal approvals. Act as an advocate for the Principal Investigator throughout the submission process. Coordinate with the researcher to prepare any required Preaward documentation as requested by a sponsor.

AWARD : Monitor and liaise between PI and OSP for provision of conflict of interest and human subjects documentation. Review funded agreements and suggest necessary changes during contract negotiation for smoother transition with OSP award negotiation. Work with OSP contacts to coordinate the facilitation of funded proposals or contracts to ensure execution and transition to account set-up and postaward management. Manage unfunded agreements and create and submit electronic UT RMS Agreement record. Aid researchers and COERA Assistant Director for Postaward with all award transitions, questions, and clarifications as needed. Prepare and coordinate subaward agreements under sponsored projects. Schedule and coordinate award kickoff meetings with Assistant Director for Postaward and Senior Postaward Research Administrator.

POST AWARD : Liaise with Assistant Director for Postaward for ease of transition between team members. Cross-train and assist cross-office work as needed.

OTHER : Prepare and disseminate (through presentations, listserv, website, etc) training, guidance, and informational materials for faculty and staff on sponsored research. Research and distribute grant opportunities as time allows. Provide sponsor, university, or other regulation updates to faculty as needed. Attend mandatory weekly / monthly meetings for team planning and office functionality. Attend conferences, presentations, and related campus organizations for research administration topic in order to stay abreast of new rules and trends in the university research administration world.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree. Three years of experience in any or all phases of the grant lifecycle.

Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact skillfully with investigators, staff, researchers, and sponsors and work with overlapping projects with sensitive and confidential information.

Ability to promote a dynamic and customer service-oriented environment.

Strong problem-solving skills, high level of organizational skills, and attentiveness to detail.

Willingness to partner with internal and external offices and staff to develop processes that meet sponsor expectations of project performance.

Proficient use of MS Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook; and Adobe Professional, along with the ability to navigate various online portals and systems.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Three years of experience in pre-award research administration. Familiarity with Huron Research Suite, Grants.gov, Research.gov, eRA Commons, and other grant submission portals. Experience with DEFINE, UTRMS, FRMS, and Workday.

Salary Range

$58,000+ depending on qualifications

Working Conditions

This position is eligible for full-remote work with limited on-location days throughout the year. The position provides for work-life balance with a typically 40- hour work week that includes flexible work arrangements.

Employment Eligibility :

Retirement Plan Eligibility :

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
