POSITION SUMMARY :
Under general supervision, the Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for general ledger (GL) system administration, account analyses and reconciliations in support of the financial close cycle, and regulatory compliance filings. Employees in this job class perform general accounting functions in the areas of general ledger, cost accounting, fixed assets, tax accounting, and internal and external audit support. This job class requires knowledge of basic accounting principles (U.S. GAAP) and the ability to use and apply independent judgment and thought to a variety of accounting and systems issues.
TYPICAL DUTIES :
Ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions in accordance with U.S. GAAP.Maintains and balances general ledger accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies.Contribute to the preparation and review of internal financial reports, including Income Statement, Balance Sheet, statistical reporting, and other ad-hoc reporting.Assists in preparing year-end review and audit schedules.Prepares and assists with weekly employee expense reports and credit card costing.Perform annual fixed asset audit for Rancho Cordova location.Supports Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions.Prepares and files property tax returns.Prepares and files U.S. Census Bureau monthly, quarterly, and annual surveys.Prepare and load per diem for employees.Performs duties and special projects as assigned.denotes essential job functionRequirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Four or more years of progressive experience in accounting, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance reporting;Knowledge of basic accounting principles (U.S. GAAP); knowledge of general departmental operations, organization policies, applicable laws, procedures, and processes;Ability to read and understand technical forms and financial reports;In-depth knowledge of accounting systems and financial reporting configurations;Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to make presentations and respond to inquiries by management, team, vendors and / or customers;Ability to present complex accounting information in an easy to understand format;Human relation skills to build effective relationships with team and internal customers;Ability to establish priorities and solve a wide range of business problems;Demonstrated customer service, common sense, problem solving and analytical skills;Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to respond to changing work priorities and meet required deadlines;Flexibility to respond to changing work priorities and handle numerous projects at the same time.EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS :
Bachelor’s degree in accounting of finance
CERTIFICATES OR LICENSES REQUIRED :
CPA not required. Job position will work directly for a CPA. If applicant has passed or intends to take CPA exams, the CPA certificate can be signed off once appropriate experience is gained.
