As a Software Engineering Manager within PNC's Marketing, Communications and Engineering Systems (MCES) organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA or Strongsville, OH. The position is primarily based in a PNC location. Responsibilities require time in the office or in the field on a regular basis. Some responsibilities may be performed remotely, at the manager's discretion.
Key Responsibilities :
- Enable your team's success through adequate planning, risk mitigation, and identification and removal of blockers when needed
- Manage a group of software engineers / system reliability and support engineers across multiple product lines. Minimum 5 years of prior management needed
- Oversee the talent management of engineering talent, including recruiting, mentoring, and enabling a culture of learning with a focus on engineering craftsmanship.
- Collaborate with various product owners and platform architecture to ensure capabilities support the intended business value and meets the governance and best practices of the platform.
- Identify issues, share best practices, and drive continuous improvement assisted by Center of Excellence
- Manage a complex ecosystem that includes Vendor Hosted Cloud, OpenShift / Kubernetes, ETL (Informatica), and legacy Mainframe (COBOL, DB2) systems
- Drive adoption of Agile and DevSecOps practices, ensuring rapid delivery while maintaining security, compliance, and reliability standards.
- Partner with security, infrastructure, and compliance teams to ensure platform resilience against cyber threats and regulatory risks.
- Own the talent strategy : hire, coach, and retain high-performing technical leaders and engineers across multiple geographies.
- Serve as the escalation point for platform issues, balancing business priorities with long-term system stability.
Preferred Skills :
5+ years of experience in software / application management, with at least 3 years in technical leadership capacityWorking with a full stack development team (Preferably Java, ETL, Mainframe (COBOL / DB2))Experience with Marketing applications (Pega Customer Decision Hub, Salesforce, Adobe) is a plusExperience with SaaS based solutions a plusWorking in Agile Teams (SAFE Agile experience is a plus)Familiarity with tools like Jira, Confluence, Alation.Experience in working closely with business partners to prioritize work and assess impact from any issues / incidents.Experience in Incident Management, Problem Management, and Operations Management and collaboration with SRC / SRE teams.Strong customer focus and ability to act with a "Sense of Urgency" in facilitating and gaining prompt incident resolution.Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to communicate both to a technology and business audience at all levels of the organization.Financial Services industry knowledge.
