Role Description

The Apartments.com team is seeking a high-performing results-driven Vice President, SEO to define the vision and produce outcomes for the leading multifamily rental platform. You will lead the SEO strategies and be a hands-on leader who gets in the trenches to drive work forward. Your SEO knowledge and leadership skills will help you motivate the team to analyze large datasets, uncover trends and insights, then turn those findings into actionable recommendations. As a valued member of the Product team reporting directly to the Vice President of Apartments Product, you'll be part of a dynamic, motivated team that strives to continuously demonstrate why Apartments.com is the leading multifamily marketplace. This position is full time in office and located in Atlanta, GA.

Responsibilities

Oversee financial planning and budget management for the SEO function.

Drive innovation and change management across SEO and related product functions.

Lead cross-functional collaboration with Product, Research, Engineering, and Marketing to integrate SEO into product development lifecycle.

Develop and execute long-term SEO strategy aligned with Apartments.com product vision and corporate objectives.

Evangelize the importance of SEO and adhering to SEO best practices within the organization, provide recommendations for improvement of the site (including site architecture, URL structures, on-page ranking factors, image, video and news optimization, etc.) and oversee the implementation of those recommendations.

Lead and manage a talented team of SEO and content professionals to drive traffic and improve the user experience of the sites in the Apartments.com Network of sites by performing activities such as competitive analysis, technical audits, keyword research, and other techniques.

Track and report on a number of SEO related metrics, providing a clear picture of the effectiveness of SEO efforts.

Work with outside vendors, agencies and consultants as necessary to bolster the capacity and skills of our team.

Guide the team to prioritize work and projects, drive meaningful change, and achieve results while working in a fast-paced environment and thrive under pressure.

Direct analysis of organic search performance by keeping close track of rankings, traffic, and conversion data to identify trends, then translate those findings into actionable insights.

Leverage your excellent communication skills to share insights and recommendations to a variety of colleagues, stakeholders, and business leaders with both technical and non-technical backgrounds.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required from an accredited, not-for-profit University or College.

10+ years of experience in a similar role, managing SEO for a large public facing website, either in-house or with an agency.

5+ years of experience and demonstrated abilities managing a team or department.

Expert knowledge in keyword list generation, and keyword rank and competitive tracking.

Understand the components of Core Web Vitals, their effect on SEO, and how to improve them.

Understand schema.org and how it impacts SEO.

Knowledge in how to optimize images and videos to generate traffic.

Understand how site architecture affects SEO.

Advanced knowledge of Google Analytics, Search Console, and SEO tools such SEMRUSH, Conductor, BrightEdge and Ahrefs.

Must be metrics driven, with the ability to create reports to track and analyze SEO performance, and to provide insights into the causes of changes in performance.

Able to keep ahead of the latest search industry trends and algorithm changes and align current and future projects with those developments.

Experience with log analysis tools such as Botify or DeepCrawl.

Proven ability to develop long term strategies and to own and manage SEO development projects from inception to completion.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be comfortable with speaking in front of a wide variety of audiences including company executives.

A track record of commitment to prior employers.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

Experience managing SEO for a large-scale, 5M+ monthly unique visitor international website, preferably within real estate or digital marketplaces.

Experience leading director-level reports and managing cross-functional teams.

15+ years of experience in SEO and product management leadership roles, including executive-level responsibilities.

Expertise in designing internal SEO reporting systems using technologies such as BigQuery, DataStudio, Tableau or Power BI.

Experience with monitoring and log analysis tools like ELK and DataDog.

Agile product management and software development experience.

Background in the real estate industry.

Experience using Maze, UserTesting, UserZoom, Dovetail and / or other user research tools.

Experience conducting product experiments, A / B tests, and / or multivariate tests.
