Payroll Specialist
Pratum Companies is seeking a Payroll Specialist to work in our corporate office in Gaithersburg, MD. This role will be responsible for processing biweekly payroll, supporting Human Resources and Payroll department initiatives, facilitating payroll and onboarding related training for employees, and ensuring ongoing, biweekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll and related compliance. This is not a remote position; this role requires on-site in-office presence, residing in the Washington, DC area.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
- Review time sheets for discrepancies and work with managers for resolution
- Accurate and timely bi-weekly payroll processing for multiple entities
- Employee employment verifications
- Maintain and update payroll system with new hires, terminations, salary changes, location transfers, etc.
- Process all wage garnishments to include support orders
- Provide accounting support for audit requests
- Support employees and managers with on-demand requests
- Reconciliations between HRIS system and ADP for accurate quarterly and annual government reporting
- Other duties, tasks, projects, and responsibilities as assigned.
Education, Skills and Experience
Requires previous experience and working knowledge of UKG Workforce ReadyExperience working with ADP SmartCompliance strongly preferred3-5 years payroll experience in a professional office environment, implies solid basic understanding of all aspects of payroll administrationKnowledge of state, federal and local wage and hour laws and tax laws. Preference for knowledge of Maryland, Washington, DC, and Virginia. Exposure to other states desired.Must be highly organized with the ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced work environment.Outstanding attention to detail with a high level of accuracy and the ability to multi-task.Excellent service orientation and strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all internal / external customers while maintaining the appropriate level of professionalism.Ability to recognize and maintain confidential information and effectively handle sensitive situations.Bilingual English / Spanish fluency with the capacity to speak, converse, read, write, and interpret in both languages is a plus (not required).Key Competencies

This position may be eligible to receive discretionary and / or performance-based bonuses on a spot or annual basis, which are variable depending on individual merit / performance, budgetary limitations, company performance, and other job-related factors. This non-exempt role will be eligible for overtime for all hours worked in excess of 40 per week. Full-time positions (30+ hours / week) are eligible for 2 weeks paid vacation, 7 sick and related leave days, 11 paid holidays, and health & welfare benefits as outlined on the Company's website.
